It has not gone to heaven. It was hit hard in the right rear. It can be repaired. He is still fighting with insurance company. He said he will either fix it or part it out....he hasn't decided. I told him to NOT PART THAT CAR OUT!!
My point is that we are parting out cars that should be restored. My rusty maverick is worst than some cars that are being parted out. Just look at the crap the mustang guys are fixing. Dynacorp will never make maverick bodys. We need to look to the future, and save all that we can. Craigs car may not be the poster child for this, but it does run, has a 302 with floors shifter, and the a/c still works and it is a Grabber.
No........it would make a nice LDO Maverick....again. That is one car that I would keep all stock. The sad part...the paint was all original. As they say.....they are only original....ONCE!!
I know. That's why I sold the 74 LDO I had. It too was all original including the paint. I wanted to put small bumpers on the car so bad but couldn't make myself take the bolts out of it. Sorry Big Bumper guys...I hate them! Oh well, it went to a good home anyway and I made some pretty good money off of it. I don't know if anyone remembers but I bought that car and my Sprint after Katrina, both out of California. I mentioned the word investment in my post and got laughed at. Well boys, I laughed all the way to the bank!
Craig, If you start a poll on the 74 Grabber, My vote is for you to fix it. With the tools, parts, and stuff we have today I don't think there are too many cars out there that fixable. I know if I had a garage that I could work on cars inside out of the weather and the tools to do it, I would be in serious trouble with my wife because I would just put a bed out there and live in the garage and do nothing but work on cars. But alas my garage has a dirt floor and too much junk in it right now to make a good workshop.
