There are dimples in the floor, where the factory would punch out the inner holes. But factory bucket seat cars also had extra reinforcements welded to the inner floor pans, that without them, it will affect the level of the seat.

    Dave,
I just went out to the garage and pushed the bench seat all the way back and exposed the floor pan. On my '71 there is a small raised portion about the size of a silver dollar and about one inch in height with a dimple for the hole to be drilled. Without putting a bucket seat in place, I assume this to be the mounting point for it. The seat tracks I pulled from a '72 Comet has spacers on the inside tracks so that the track can be raised to the proper height. I dont see where an extra reinforcement would have been welded in that would effect seat height.

Do you have a picture? Would like to clarify before I attempt to install mine.

The extra reinforcements are just for strength. They do not effect the height of the seat.

    Thanks Craig.

If anyone has a picture, I would like to see these braces. Maybe I can fab them up.

Thanks for the photo Craig. I just got back from Pick & Pull. It took me a while with my hammer and chisel to get them out. $10 for both.

Thanks everyone, I would have never known that I needed them and the donor car would have been long gone before I knew I need them.

As I was picking over the car, I pulled back the rear seat side panel and found a brand new door seal wedged in there. Someone on the line must have goofed it up and just threw it in there. Was not any good after 37 years of sitting there. Also inside was a sealed plastic bag about 24" x 3". Inside was a kind of paper roll with a red mesh on the back. Looked like some kind of sound deadening that they didn’t feel like installing.

I think I have taken all that I can from this poor old Maverick. I felt bad cutting her up. She was a nice car. May she rest in peace. A lot of her will live on in my car. (floor shifter, rear end, retractable seat belts, shock tower bracing, bucket seat brackets, power steering assembly, tinted rear window, tinted quarter windows, part of the roof and a lot of nuts & bolts)
