Just pulled both cooling lines of the radiator and just like yesterday, only a few drops of fluid. I drove the car about 40 miles yesterday so I expected the cooler to have plenty in it. I tried to start the car, I have no choke so it took a few tries. Each time it tried to fire, I checked for flow....nothing. It finally fired enough for me to pat the gas and after a couple pats I heard a squirty puff of wet air. I shut it down and took a look, I had a puddle of fluid in the catch pan and a steady stream running out of the left line. Great news Im hoping. Now I want to be sure it's flowing back to the tranny unobstructed. I'm not exactly sure how do check that. I guess I'm being too anal at this point. I will hook things back up and wait for my external cooler to arrive. Thank to all for the advice and guidance.
I have my cooler on the downstream side of the radiator cooler, in the return line to the trans. If you have a puddle in the bucket ur probably ok. As much as u've been driving, you wud have had some issues by now if not enough fluid was circulating..
Looks that way Everrett. False alarm I reckon. I dont want any troubles on my travels this year. There is a lot of new stuff under the hood and its going to take a little time to earn my trust. I keep checking and double checking all my work. Today was the first day that I had no drips under the car. I have it running and riding better than it ever has and yet Im a nervous wreck worrying that something may go wrong. Taking it to its first Cruise In tonight, am fianlly proud to open the hood!
Well, I understand ur nervous feelings; you can never re-check your work to much when driving a 40+ yr old vehicle. Hope all goes well at the cruise-in. By doing the local events, they swill serve as shake-down runs to hopefully discover any potential issues.
