It's true!!! I've gone through a couple of good running engines by putting a 4 barrel on. I would guess that running them at 7200 RPM had nothing to do with it either. :biglaugh:I never worked at a speed shop but I stayed at a Holiday Inn once.:tiphat:

    Did somebody say radiator? :stirthepot:

Maybe he was confusing his thoughts. Maybe he ment adding a carb adaptor.

    Au contraire

    Technically that is not true.

In 1968 the 2v heads change combustion chambers to the larger 60-63 cc. The 302-4V or J-code had the same chambers as the 1966-67 289 heads that were 52-54 cc.

I think in '68 there was a factory 4v 302 head... Not that it was special or anything.

You do need to be careful which heads and intakes you use though. Some of the early heads have different water passages and if you use the wrong gaskets you will have leaks.
There is also a difference on the number of intake bolts between early and late models but that might be on 351w only

I have never heard of any 4V Windsor cylinder heads.
Do you have a casting number?

4v ruin the motor?? I guess in theory it would if you were dumb enough to run a huge carb really rich and wash down the cylinder walls. Thats really extreme though. Silly, silly.

I have a set of 68 4v 302 heads if you want to come and get them. Short of a small chamber and a pretty little 4v stamp they arent any different than any other 2v head. They make awesome paper weights though.

I'm new to the fords as well , they make a 4v radiator?.... Its just how all those "ex" anythings are, they know just enough to make the people that do know smile, and the people who don't, believe them....I wonder if the other car manufactures 2v engines die slower or faster than the ford when you swap on a 4v intake and carb with out changing the heads? It will instantly kill my mavericks engine if I tried it...(250 cu.in. 6cyl, not just slowly like a 302). glad you posted the thread it made my day, haven't worked on anything in a while to hear all those things in person lately.

    No not really,but they'll have "351" and "4v" cast into them,similiar to the 302 heads pictured.I've only actually seen 1 set,on a '69 351W out of a Mach 1.
