I killed one last year. Had to swap in a 5.0.

And I killed it by putting the wrong heads on. (Roller heads/springs with flat tappets and flat-tappet cam).

So, Fords DO die. It just takes a pretty good bit of stupidity to kill one.

The one set of "4v" Windsor heads ever made were 2cc smaller in the combustion chamber...
Big whoop! That was the ONLY difference between them and the regular 69-73 heads!

Now back to the radiator discussion!;)

    Haha

Im sorry i had to join the forum to post something. You guys are funnier than $#!^ Hahaha  I was reading up on tips about putting a 4b Edelbrock carb on a 302 and came across this forum. i was in tears when i started reading what he had said to you. and the comments after just made my upcoming week. I am a young guy at the age of 17. i drive a 1969 mustang (sorry..it's still a Ford though!!) it had a 302 2b with 85k miles. i just rebuilt her (everything plus rings) and changed some with cams and goodies. my next project it the intake but i had to join to post and get in because this is tooooo funny. if your interested you can join HPS or also known as Highperformancestangs.com Yes it is mustangs but any Ford is really welcome. Sad when a 17 year old can realize the stupidity of that...

The guy that said a 4bbl would ruin your 2bbl engine. Id be curious to know what performance shop he worked at and what he did there. Did he try to sell you 4v heads? I cant think of any other reason for a person to come up with that story, Excuse me, Fairy Tale!

If the inlet hose on the carb was hooked up to a bottle of molasses, sure.

    Welcome!

Several of us belong to multiple Ford boards.
The fact is though, that we all agree this one has the best and most well rounded group of guys.

Another good board is stangnet.com. At least the "classics" portion of the board. The later model sections there have the usual wise-a$$ know-it-alls that you might expect to find on a rice board. The classic guys are easy going much like this board.

I have nothing to back this up except here say but I DO think there was a set of 302 4v heads put on an engine or 2. I don't think there was anything special about these heads. I think they were nothing but a set of C90E 351w heads with small head bolt holes and special pistons to make up for the loss of C/R. May have been on the 69 Mach I's.
I have heard of these heads but have never seen one myself to get the numbers off of them so please don't flame me.
Just going on stuff I have heard.
    Who knows?
Anybody have any OLD books with part numbers in them?
Had a set of the C9's on the windsor in my F100 several years ago with some home porting done to them. Not aftermarket but pretty good heads.

C8OE-F is the only 302 4V head, it has 53.5cc chambers. The W got larger ports and valves.
