Oh, hey...if Dan is coming, you might have some serious competition in the 'modified' class, Dennis. I'm really looking forward to seeing your Stallion, Dan, and how it turned out, and everyone elses obviously.
Hey Wes, yes I am coming to Carlilse. Once you see my car you will easily see that it is no show car. It really is needing to be taken apart and completely detailed, the car is really showing its age. It looks much better in pics than live. Couple more years and I will really take it apart and repaint it and make it nice. Am anxious to meet you and see your car too. Dan
I guess I'm gonna have to get on the ball and get mine back together.Time goes so fast.I only live 45min away so a guess i dont have an excuse.Hope to see you all there. And mabey this year someone will bring at least one Comet . That would top last years very large Comet count of ...0....
I am bringing my COMET fer sure....but it's nothing spectacular....I love it, and am trying to improve its' look as much as I can with limited funds....definitly no show car....but I will be there! A couple of us are going to the Sprint Car races Friday night in Williams Grove too, if anyone is interested.
I dont know about sleepin with John and Dennis and the Carlisle Hooker.....can I just sleep in the back of my truck?
Don't worry if your cars not "Show Quality". Carlisle is a great place to hang out. My car is by no means a show car and I had a great time last year(Ok the rain sucked) but sitting around and checking out each others car is just too cool. The show cars are a great way to get inspired about working on your own. Me and Scott are talking about making a little road trip during the weekend, so "drivers" are more than welcome. Russ
This is true. Show quality or daily drivers, they all count. The best thing about a show like this is meeting and talking to all the other Maverick and Comet owners. Oh. and checking out each others cars, of coarse. Not only that, but if we can all show up in force it shows there is an interest in our cars. It can be just enough incentive to get others interested in Mavericks too. The more Mavericks and Comets people see, the more likely that more people will want to join the ranks of Maverick owners. Bring them if you got them. The more the merrier.
i just hate to park my 3/4 primer with poorly patched quarters mav next to some of the nicer restored mav's. but i got to bring it, after we leave the fairgrounds for the day driving a later model car just doesn't feel right
I hear ya guys. Guess I am a little gun shy since last year I took my car to a local "hick town" car show...most of the owners were old timers with perfect cars....and a lot of money in them. My Comet was in worse shape than any car there, so I felt a little embarassed......but I'll have to admit...I had a ton of people checking my car out and asking " what kind of car is this?" Most of the owners there were stuck-up too. I didn't win anything of course, but told my wife that a couple years down the road when I put some money in my car, I'll go back and the Comet will blow most of those cars away...he he. We'll have a good time in Carlise....my bud who lives about a mile or two from the fairgrounds might have a cook out for all of us Mav/Comet owners....I'll keep ya posted.
That'd be great. Don't be hesitant to participate because of anything. I wrote an article a while gack for a regional car mag here about just that topic. There is a local guy with a Mav who came to our first meet and told me about how he got put down because of his choice of car, things like "When will you get a real car?". This pissed me off. Mavs are getting quite accepted in the general car community these days and it makes no difference how it looks. I see quite a few different types of cars at cruises that are 'works in progress' and nobody puts them down. If someone does, that's their problem and they need to get a life. We'll ALL look forward to seeing you at Carlisle! You have my word on that.:bananaman
