Dang, some of you guys have all sorts of cool cars around you. I don't have many neighbors, but there is a slick '55 Caddy that is under construction but has had lots of work done to it. There is also a guy who works at O'Reilly Auto who lives less than a mile from me who has a nice '72 Grabber. It's well optioned with 302, C4, PS, AC, Black Buckets, and it has just recently been repainted the original Green. I should tell him about this site next time I go up to O'Reillys.
well my buddy and his dad down the street have a 70 challenger. 72 cuda, 62 willys overland, and a 66 jeep cj5. my mom and yes i said my mom at the other end of the street has a 61 ford unibody, 66 ford f100, 86 trans am,and a 79 ford f150.my dad has a 23 t-bucket and a 78 granada pro street.that about it other than my 74 comet gt
I live in a deed-restricted neighborhood ... about 180 homes. No garages bigger than 2 cars, no lots bigger than about 80x80. Any project cars have to be tucked out of sight, if in a state of disassembly. All that going against us, there are a decent amount of cars here. On the next block over, one guy has a nice stock restored 68 Camaro and a hot-rodded 48 Stude pickup. A few doors down there is a 69 Camaro that was an 80s street car and it is currently hibernating ... don't see a lot of action there. On the block to the north of me, there is a buddy with a 70 Mustang Fastback. It has been freed from paint purgatory with a fresh shot of Calypso Coral. It runs too, but after two years, it still has yet to be finished. Next to him is a guy that works at a musclecar dealership, and there always is something cool that he had driven home from "work". His son has a 69 Mustang Fastback that was nice 10 years ago, but is showing its age a bit. Real daily driver. Then there is the guy with the way-tacky overbuilt Lime Green 69 Dart ... more of a hodge-podge of stuff. There is a guy who works as a mechanic, and he seemed to cycle through about three cars per year. Looks like he was taking project cars that weren't quite right, correcting this or that, and then taking the cars to auction. He stopped that a couple years ago, though. A couple of brothers in their 20s and their dad have 4 Fox Mustangs between them. And finally, next to them is a 69 Cougar Convertible that could best be described as a rough driver. It is in deep hybernation ... waiting for its 26yo owner, who doesn't have a clue, to restore it "someday". I have dibs on that one, when the guy wakes up and smells the coffee. Just hope I have the $$$s for it then. I think I'll have another cup of coffee myself ... Yup, pretty sure I'm dreaming there too ...
Ive got the only older cars in my hood..and they are not quiet when i start them, Needless to say i get some strange looks..One older guy had his hands over his ears as he walked by. SO between my cars and my boys drums were not to popular around here..
Most of the kids in my neighborhood have newer mustangs. They're plenty loud and look fun to me! All of the old farts drive SUVs or minivans... It's very sad. The closest thing I've seen to a hot rod is some guys muddin' jeep. We're also in HOA neighborhood, so it doesn't attract a lot of shade tree mechanics. I'm the craziest one in the whole place.
One guy up the street has a 65 Mustang convertible, another has a Dodge Dart which is painted Plum Crazy and he takes to the drags, 2 doors down is a steel garage filled with circle track cars and another up the street has a 77 Nova that will sit forever before he does anything with it.
I live out in the country, so I'll just tell you about my neighbors within a couple of miles or so. About 1/4 mile, my brother in law has a 55 Ford Fairlane 2 door, all original except duals and Torq thrusts, a 68 Chevelle Malibu 2 door , all original 50,000 mile car with Torq thrusts, and a 64 Corvair 2 door, original needing an engine [He's got one ready to install, just has never got around to it]. Neighbor behind Father in laws house has a dirt track modified car. My friend that owns the local parts store is about 2 miles away. He has a 68 Camaro under construction, a 34 Chevy coupe with a 302 FORD and top loader 4 speed!, a stock 48 Chevy pickup, a stock 48 Chevy 1 1/2 ton flatbed, a sweet 58 Impala Chevy with a 409 with duals, looks stock, a 67 F-100 pickup with a 427 with dual 4 bbls., and a 74 Chevy Nova his wife bought new. One other neighbor about two miles away has a 68 Camaro and a Nova drag car. And about 2 1/2 miles away is a 40 Ford coupe street rod that was originally owned by my parts guy's brother, now owned by another guy who rarely ever drives it.
I'm sandwiched between two uncles who have some badass rides. On one side there's a 70 Boss 302, 70 Mach1, and a 07 Shelby GT 500. On the other side there's a 69 Fastback, and an 09 Shelby GT 500.Then just down the road my Dad has a Fox body 93 Cobra clone with a P51 headed 460 that'll scare the hell out of you Bossed
haha. Agreed. I'm living in the projects (if you can call the projects of boone the projects lol). My 1990 oldsmoblile is embarassing by comparison to the other cars around me lol. The mav is balla status tho . There are two other cars with carbs in the complex - I'm the resident mechanic guru if you can believe that hahahahhaha. hahahahhaha. ha. ha. -my parents neighbor seems like everyone has a fully restored classic. Except my parents.
The two neighbors across the street from me have nice cars that have been restored. They are like me, when the weather is nice we use them as daily drivers. One has a 1956 T-Bird w/ continental kit & both tops (soft/porthole). The other has a 64 Buick Skylark convert. Whenever there is nice weather, you drive down are street & go back in time... I'll have to see if we can get the cars together this summer, for a group shot...
I live on a one block street so not much near me.. the people that recently moved in accross the street have a 1964 or so stepside chevy pick up project they brought with them, and the guy on the corner has a 70-72 chevy pick up as a driver,I don't even keep my maverick here.... just my 04 mustang gt and my 2008 6.7L cummins ram 4x4, my 64 gto is in storage , my 64 lemans (parts car) is at my old job in their lot and the 71 maverick is stored at a friends house for the winter as is the 77 (mav. parts car still on the trailer didn't get much dissasembled before winter set in) where the maverick is for the winter at my friends house ,he has quite a few cars there, in with the mav is a 2007 shelby gt mustang and a 2003 mercury marauder, then in other garages he has a 70 and 71 split bumper rs camaros, a 71 firebird,a 68 chevy II nova, a 67 gto, a 64 grand prix (one of my old cars) a 87 buick a 78 w72 t/a and a 91 s-10,and a 04 ford super duty....and most of my friends have at least a couple cars, be them drag, street, project or what ever and they range from ram air IV gto's ,chevelles and wagons, buick stage I gs and turbo cars, turbo ta's, 442's,all kinds of mustangs, and camaro's,mopars of all kinds including a 70 hemi cuda, are all just a few of what friends have and in this area you name it? BUT most are too nice to be daily drivers, not saying they are all perfect , but most are hobby cars not transportation...for me thats why I ended up with a maverick after a 87 notch back ,two 04 gt's and a 07 mustang gt,(just the fords I've owned) I wanted some thing that was different and that I could go have fun with with out the cost of some of the other cars being so high you can't have fun with out spending a ton of money or people thinking your nuts cutting up a rare car to go have fun in... but I like them all and its cool to see them in all the different areas no mater what everyones doing with them just glad to see them around, just wish there was a few more mavericks /comets in the area (but not as many as mustangs...)
