I posted it here back in Dec or Nov. It had a GT hood scoop but was supposedly owned by the lil' ol' school teacher or something like that. It also had the 'Hi Po 302' only offered that one year...............wanka...wanka.....ditto to what Dennis said. I wonder what Dennis' car would bring on the B-J auction block? Or Dan's, or Dan's(the other one), or a lot of them?

I would say that a perfect restoration or restomod Grabber or Comet GT would be around $20-25,000 if sold during primetime. If it was on off days at early hours, probably $15-20,000. At B-J you pay extra to put your car in during peak hours, and it seems worth it for the extra money.

There have been some absolute deals already, most in the early hours of the day. Look up these cars at their site, they all sold before the Comet did.

    lot 5 - 79 Cadillac ElDorado for $4000
    lot 29 - 67 Mustang GTA for $14,000
lot 312 - 68 Plymouth Sport Fury (big block) for $5500

That Mustang was absolutely perfect looking, restoration just completed.

I'd bet they had over $20,000 in that restoration job easy.

I would say about 95% of what is sold is too high, but there are some real bargains if you want them.

That guy that bought the Hurst Shelby last night for like $186,000 - his buddies in the background were laughing like crazy everytime he raised the bid. He still has to add on another $15,000 in buyers fees, plus his state sales tax when he goes to register it. :coco: It is prices like those, that make being around my Shelby friends unbearable sometimes.

I have to add to that last post:

Probably a Shelbyized Maverick like Rays' blue car in primetime - $30,000+

Those buyers go nuts over anything Shelby - so add in the Mexican Shelby pictures and get the story going in the buyers guide about them - big money would come out for sure (y)

A lot of the folks buying these cars know very little about them, IMHO. They are folks with mega bucks to spend, usually for a tax write off, buying vehicles they will never drive. Now some of them are too valueable to drive much, but I'm a firm believer that driving is part of the hobby. I hate trailer queens, they are nice but I'd much rather see a nice ride with a little road rash and a few bugs on the bumper. One of the doctors in Tuscaloosa has a Ford F-550 pickup, big ole Super Crew with a Cat diesel, just to pull his boat with. From what I understand, he rarely drives it, just has it parked in the drive to impress people. I don't want to sound like I hate people with money, I wish I had more myself, I just don't like folks that buy classic cars just to impress other people. These cars were built to drive! I'll get down off my soapbox now, just had to vent a little! :evilsmile

I just got back from Barrett-Jackson. I was only there on Wed. and saw the silver Comet. It was a nice car but anywhere else It would probably only have brought half that much. There were some nice cars there. We have cars here just as nice for half the money.

Anyone see the other night when the chance to own the first 2007 Shelby Mustang went for 600,000? And you weren't even getting the one that Ford and Shelby drove up on the stage, just the chance to be the first to own a production one. :coco:

Seeing some of those Mustangs just makes me shake my head though. Not because of how much they go for, but because my grandpa is sitting on a '69 and '70 Boss 302, the '70 is blue and has the factory shaker and rear window louvers, an Orange Boss 429 with 36,000 original miles, and a factory '68 428 Mustang GT fastback.

Me and my grandpa have always been extreamly close ever since I was little. I used to go with him everywhere he went before I started school. He told me when I was up there last week that I'm comeing up there for a month or so this summer and we are getting the old beast (Boss 429) out. He said he's to old to handle that car anymore, but he would let me drive it and we could take it around to some car shows and stuff this summer. Right now, it hasn't been on the road since 1995 and hasn't been started since 1997. Needs new tires, the brakes gone through, the carb rebuilt, and a basic tune up. Right now we have some Marvels Mystery oil in the cylinders soaking to make sure the rings aren't stuck or anything. You guys can be expecting some pictures of it this spring/summer. :)

My grandpa said if he ever sells a couple of those cars, he will buy me, my brother, and my 3 cousins each a brand new Mustang. I told him I would rather just have the money to put in my Maverick. (y) He bought that Boss 429 in Ohio in 1981 for $10,000. You know who ever sold him that car is probably crying now. :rofl2:

Only picture I have of it right now is a pic of the engine that was taken in the early 90's. And in this pic of my dad's Comet, you can see it pokeing it's nose out of the garage in the back ground.

Sorry for getting off topic. If there is anything i like talking about, it's my grandpa's Mustangs. :)
