that leaves alot of space between the motor and radiator. look like the motor is shorter than a 302. could be promising in a maverick. the exhast ports point down and the spark plugs are on the intake side so it wouldnt neen much clearance on the shock towers.
I just got done looking at them photos on a different forum, I wish Bob the best of luck that new shop looks amazing. I cannot wait to read the article in a couple of months in MM FF on that build. Anyone in the Georgia area is very lucky to have a guy like that move into town.
I dont think Chrysler is in trouble. DI is out 2011. All V6 powerplants are being scrapped for the new Pheonix(modular) line up that includes DI and twin turbos. Backed by Fiat who is one of the the largest engine producers in the world with over 2.5 million engines a year. All kinds of new toys on the way. The new Viper gets to keep the V10 but ZF transaxle is involved and Ferrari. Should be pretty cool. They are keeping the Hemi V8. It makes gobs of power with little stress on the motor. Besides I'd much rather pay to fix a new Hemi over a direct injected all aluminum.quad cam disposable engine. Also an 8 speed auto coming to back the new Hemi at 500 plus HP.. That should be fun.
I was watching Top Gear America on the History channel and one of the guys on the show was reviewing the 2010 Viper and said Chrysler is skipping a year and it will not be back until some time in 2012. The Viper is my "If I ever get rich" dream car
According to a pretty knowledgable source of mine ....Chrysler will be offering Viper V-10 powered challengers soon. Here is a video on U-tube of the 2009 prototype in action. [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf-WbJpf_8c"]YouTube - Dodge Challenger SRT10 Concept 2009[/nomedia]
BTW all those Ford guys that talked crap about Honda`s Vtec system have to eat their words now. Because this engine has it
I've always been a fan of the v-tec, great system and far ahead of its time. It was just a matter of time before a similar system was adapted to different styles of engines.
Yep, no 2011 model. It gets a complete ground so we were told. Cant wait to see what Ferrari does with the suspension. Sergio the fellow that runs Fiat and Chrysler is a real down to earth guy and a car nut. Some pretty cool Maserati stuff coming to. A few models are going to be built in the US chrysler plants I heard.
I think every manufacturer has a system now, its pretty cool. Even some pushrod motors have it, which i thought was impossible. The story of Vtec is pretty interesting. Basically Japan automakers back in the day(80s) were taxed on how big the engine was, so they went to using tiny displacements compared to US cars. But smaller engines produce less power so they had to find was to improve it without increasing size. Companies like Nissan and Mazda did it with Turbos. But back then they were costly, laggy and not that efficient. But at Honda some engineer came up with a variable timing/lift/cam proflile system that worked on the fly. That helped give engines(especially their DOHC engines) a big bump in all around power. Now their iVtec is even more advanced, i havent read around to how it works yet though, or what it does.
