not a bad idea! But one thing, i dont know how to do all of the stuff to make an engine run smoothly, im only 16, i want to learn how to tho. So i guess there is no better way to learn how than to do it your self!

I agree to a point. But I wud suggest "hopefully" having someone assist/oversee the build as a novice builder. U don't want to spend a lot of money and time putting an engine together and it won't run, or run a short time and self-destruct. Things like that has a tendency to be vry depressing and in a lot of cases ends w/folks losing intrest and projects being abandon.

Well, If ur uncle is does old classic/cars for a living, ur in business. Don't take no for an answer. I hope ur on gud terms ;).
U need someone who knows what their doing on an engine build. PERIOD.
If u get him to help - then go for it...
BTW: the MCCI Roundup will be in Dearborn the 4th. weekend of July; u might want to try and make that. It is a place to meet and see more Mavericks and Comets in one place than u will probably see in a "ur young" lifetime.

Yeah that would be a great learning experience. To basically build a motor from the ground up!!

I don't know what they were saying they were getting for that. I just posted this on the MM&FF website, but I'm not getting any responses. It is cool that they can do this for that but it sucks that they put it out there like it is a possiblity for everyone.

Can anyone recommend the BEST modifications to do to a stock 302 in a 73 comet gt. The best Hp/dollar parts. And perhaps a website where i can get it? It looks like its going to be an early spring here in michigan, and i want to get started rebuilding the engine sometime in the next month! I wanna try to get to 280-300hp without going over $1,000, if thats possible. Only 280-300 because my dad doesn't want me to have any more hp than that, says i will do something stupid.
