A stock Brazilian Mav with the 2.3L Carb ,4 speed manual GT 4s came with 3.92 rear axle ratio is really good on gas and goes up to 90-100 MPH max. the basic 4s came with 3.73 rear axle ratio, now if you install one with efi and a modern transmission It will be sweet!! The 3.0 6cc 4spd manual came with 3.31 The 5.0 8cc 4spd manual came with 3.07 way different from North American Mavericks aren't they?:16suspect
Yea, I'll definitely be keeping the EFI. I have everything there for the EFI except the computer and MAF meter. I need to go junkyardin' and find me a computer, the crankshaft serpentine pulley, and the MAF meter and the tube that connects it to the intake. I also need to find a front sump Pinto oil pan and pickup. Also need to find a good 4 cyl. T5. Right now I have the SROD 4 speed overdrive trans from the Capri behind it, and I'll get it going with that trans if I don't find a T5 first. I plan to make the fuel line and return line from 3/16 steel brake line, and I need to figure what fuel pump I'm going to use. I think one from a late 80's Lincoln Town Car/Grand Marquis/Crown Vic may be the way to go. I'm setting our Dixie Mav fall cruise and show, which is in mid-October, as my deadline for getting this thing drivable
man, that's just great!!! We want pictures of the build up, I'm pretty sure that would help this community (a lot) in the long run with the actual gas prices.
I'll post every detail of what I do, down to what wires on the harness are required to make it run. Today I took the EFI harness and laid it out and hooked up most of the plugs. Several of the factory little plastic "push in" things on the harness go right in factory holes that were already in the Maverick... The harness is basically a perfect fit. I still have a few plugs that I can't figure out where they go, but I'll go post on some Mustang forums I guess and see if I can figure it out. Pics will be coming this evening when I get home, still in NC right now.
