Yes - I like the spoiler, a lot! To me it really goes well with the "Shelby" lights and brings out a 67/68 Shelby look.

Having followed your build thread I would have no doubt but that you will be commited to making sure it is a quality unit.

I will however have to set a few things in order when it is time to put the money on the line.

    # 1 - I'll have to buy my own Maverick

    # 2 - I purchased a complete factory spoiler for my son's car for $20.00 about six months ago. How many more times will anyone be able to do that! Quit looking and settle on this one.

    # 3 - I will have to plan on that "Shelby" tail panel addition as well because it is just so complimentary to the spoiler.

How much to plan to pay? I would say that $200.00 would be a steal deal and while $300.00 would be max.

    Great work on the Maverick.

I'm definitely interested. Nice job on the design. Unique, yet very complimentary to the car.
As to price; $250 for sure, maybe $300?

I love the pioneer spirit of this site and it's members. If you can't find it, build it... The spoiler is a very good looking piece, and I'm interested in one as well... I think $300 is a fair price, but we all know it will depend on the cost of producing them...

I'm ok with my stock Grabber spoiler, but if I didn't have one yours would be a strong option....but I personally don't like the relief either.

I also think if anyone would ever feel up to the task, making a bolt on spoiler that would fit 4drs could sell a few.

Without the relief cut in it, it would be a nice subtle "upgrade" from the original factory spoiler. I think the height looks perfect! Good job, and thank you for blazing the trail!!

A hardware kit would be nice, too, like Frank said.

Just an outside perspective on comments here. When Glenn did this there was excitement about being able to make more of these. You can see the quality of Glenns work, yet you all keep stating "if the quality is good", don't you think he wouldn't put it out if the quality wasn't high? He never asked anyone if they liked it with the relief, obviously some did and and wanted him to reproduce it, he only asked if there was intrest in him making what he has. If you don't like it with the relief get it and fill it in with fiberglass yourself as an option.

Glenn, I really like what you are doing and can appreciate the work that goes into something like this. I also went through some of the same stuff when I did some billet sill plates yrs ago. For some you can't make it right enough.:D You can try asking Maverick Man about some one making a mold and producing parts, he would be a good starting point as he has been through this.

You asked for anything...and it looks like you are getting it...good and bad. :D

I sell a fair amount of parts, and I have worked with other vendors who also sell or reproduce parts. I think you really need to look at what the minimum run will be on these. If 10 is the minimum...you will sell them all. It may take a few years, but they will sell. If the minimum run is 200...then you will have to sit on them a LONG time before they all sell, and you will have your own investment of money wrapped up in these until the do sell.

    Just things to consider.

I think a taller spoiler like that would really look cool with M A V E R I C K letters across it sort of like a 68 Shelby. I don't know of a source....too bad the late model Maverick SUV letters are angled.

Craig made a good point, I guess my mistake was saying "if you have anything to ad feel free". My bad, because personally I don't care if some of you already have a Grabber spoiler and are content with it. I don't care if you don't like the relief. I thought I made it clear, I did this for me, and me alone. I am only really throwing this out there because a few people expressed interest in what I had made, for me.

There is no minimum run on these. The one guy I have talked to about these is willing to make the one for me, or however many I can find a buyer for. Because of that, the price will depend on how many people step up. If that is 6 guys, it will cost more than if 20 guys go for it. That is the reason for this thread. He asked me to feel it out. This will only be done once.

Just to give out some info on the cost of having custom parts made. I started with a decent shape Grabber spoiler I paid $200 for. I now have over $200 in materials to get it into the shape it is currently in. I charge $40 per hour for work I do on cars for customers, and I now have 22 hours into this spoiler as it sits, and it is still not ready for the mold. I figure I have another 15-20 hours more to get it right. The one guy I have spoken with wants $1000 to make a quality mold and produce the first copy for me. Then, depending on how many people raise their hand, we will figure out what he will charge to make additional copies.

So let's add all this up, shall we?
    $200......spoiler,
    $250......materials,
    $880......my labor so far,
$1000....to make the mold and produce the first copy.
$2330.00 total investment for one spoiler set, so far.

Now I don't really charge myself anything for my own work, but you get the point. If I did, this little deal would cost around $2300 for a "one off" spoiler! Personally, I am ok with that. I am not rich, but I do work really hard. I have a regular job I work at and make a good living. Then on the side I build hot rods for people, and I make very good money doing that. So if I see something special for my car, and I want it, I get it.

Like I said earlier in this thread, I am not making any money on any spoiler that get's sold. What he charges to make the additional copies is all that will be passed along. I am eating the cost of the mold out of my end because it is a part I want. Now if I were a smart business man I would add a percentage of that set up charge to each spoiler set being sold so it wouldn't cost me anything. But I am not doing that. I am just trying to pass along something that people have shown interest in.

Five minutes after starting this thread I received a pm saying I would probably regret doing this. I am hoping you all prove that theory wrong. But so far it isn't going well. I see a lot of people nit picking what they don't like, or what they would have done different etc.

Rant over, been a very tough week and I am exhausted. All I wanted was for people that wanted one to say so, and give me a price point. I wasn't really looking for anything else. My fault for thinking that was all I would get I guess.

You asked and what you received was constructive criticism. Seems to me that the point is that people like your idea, but some would rather have a variation...one without the relief. Others might prefer it. Keep both variations open please.

Personally I don't want anything not stock on the current Maverick's body I have now, but if I get another Maverick I'd like to do a bunch of customizing to it.

It's great the people are taking the time to attempt (or concider) making custom items for Mavericks here in the states. Spoilers, scoops, custom mirrors, taillights and such would be great items for the few of us that enjoy Mavericks. So many times people have to make their own custom parts, it would be nice to be able to purchase a few.
