This is what i'm buying for my shortblock http://www.fordstrokers.com/dart-based-liberator-short-blocks/
IMO your goals are not realistic. IMO 9.99 car and daily driver are not the same car. Some have done it but they are very few and far between. And I doubt your really going to be able to do it in california. Get pulled over once they arer going to have a field day with you. Take a look in the timeslip data base, 500rwhp should get you really close to the motor you need for a low 10 sec pass. But remeber its ALOT more than just a motor thats going to get you there chassis, suspension, driveline, weight, are equally as important if not more important than horsepower. Aerodynamics come into play at them speeds as well. I would figure on around 140 trap speed in the quarter mile. Not to mention the safety equipment and licensing to be able to run them times. a old requirement i found in a quick google, and I'm sure they have added alot since then. Your original build will have plenty of power for a street strip car. You can build a 1000hp "street car" but it would be extremely unrealistic for a driver and probaly wouldn't last any time on the street plus race gas and other stuff. An afr headed 331 with a blower should run high 9's to low 10's pretty easy.
Simplest way to put this is,you can build a 1000hp car and dd it,all it takes is money look at drag week those car have way more than 1000hp,if ya wanna go fast you have to give up some comfort for saftey.
I don't think this car will be going faster than 11sec anytime soon. The fun is setting a goal for yourself and working towards that goal. The evil mastermind (Bryant) and I will always come up with new things I'm sure.
man that would be so awesome. I'm still so high off of hitting that nitrous button in my car in fontana for the first time 4 months ago. Can't imagine going that fast . . .
oh man its amazing. we just sold our mustang. 421 small block ford. procharger with 36 lbs boost and a 250 shot of spray. 725 at the wheels without the belt or spray. 8.80 1/4 street car. once you get comfortable racing youll wanna go faster and faster
36 pounds on a procharger???? was in a F2? that's when they max out, but that's also on 1000+ WHP cars.
^Accually the F3-131/135/139 all can push 45lbs,unless i missed where he said it was a f2 then they max at 38lbs.
he didn't mention which one, but since the F2 is the popular one(at least in my neck of the woods) I assummed he would use that one for that power level. i always though they maxed out at 36..... last year i spent some time with a guy that built a 427W/F2 66 stang, greatest ride of my life!
Yea couple of local guys have the F3 1's a 1700hp streetcar and the other is something like 2000+ outlaw track car.
