Wow i just spent the last half hour going through that thread, and the main difference is that we were standing behind our brothers,in this thread we are arguing amongst ourseves and that is sad. It's time we all stepped back:drink: [including myself] and look at the big picture. This happens everywhere,on the internet,in person, car shows, race tracks etc..etc..And no good ever comes of it,feelings are hurt and someone always walks away P.O'd.I could go on but it is alot easier to get along than fight, just ask my wife,i always walk away before it gets out of hand.Derek.(y)

It's only one race, maybe they didn't show the other 5 times the Maverick beat the Civic?? and the times wern't very far off, maybe the Maverick guy was picking his nose?
If you like imports, good for you, if you like domestic cars, thats nice, I myself have never owned an import, and I don't see myself ever buying one, all I know is my Honda lawnmower is awesome!!

all cars have come a long way... i bet if you went back to the drag racing world 20 years ago and said that a honda will beat a maverick... or camaro.. or charger, you would get your a$$ handed to you and then thrown to the street..

hondas are good... fords are good.. and even... ch... che.... are good.. in their own right.. to their owners.. i for one own a saturn.. it is my daily driver. the seals leak... the seat gets wet.. the inside of the windows fog over and ice up almost every day. the stuts are shot.. the tires are almost bald... the breaks leak from rusted lines, that i have to fill every week. the exhaust is held up by a coat hanger and the exhaust manifold is cracked and leaks. the trunk doesnt seal right, the right front fender is broken, the headlights are not aimed properly.. i can go on and on..

point? it sucks.. i hate it.. but it does the job. and it gets great gas mileage.. why did i buy it? lack of options. i would love to get something better... maybe one day i will... if i was in arizona.. i could drive the maverick daily.. gas prices have gone down, it is almost affordable.

but the main point... everyone needs to not bash another vehicle.. if we do.. we are no better than the people that do bash people because of the vehicle they drive.

    and after all

THIS IS AMERICA.. whether you like it or not.. people like me in the military fought for everyone to have the right to FREEDOM OF SPEECH.. and as long as it doesnt offend people, thats what we can do.. talk openly and FREELY..

so everyone that keeps bashing people just because of the car they have, needs to back up and really look at themselves in the mirror and fix whats wrong with themselves

Yes, and that's why they have Honda Forums. No need to bring their passion to a Maverick Forum. ;)

I've said it before; I like imports. I just don't like them for race cars/hot-rods. American Muscle all the way. Right now I am driving a Ford Escort to work, because it's great on fuel. But it's not really a Ford. It's a Mazda with Ford's name on it, so it's a Japanese import. I'd love to have a Honda for a daily driver. Damn if I'd ever try to make a race car out of one though. Even if it's fast (and some are), it looks and sounds plain gay like that. Front wheel drive on a drag racer is lame. There's all kinds of torque-steer, and forget about ever pulling a front wheel off the ground.

Bashing cars and bashing people are two different things. Cars are not people...

to each his own, but I'd rather get a RWD car (either domestic or import) for a fun car. Wouldn't you buy a Opel GT? It's an import, it's a great car, and looks awesome. What about a NSX , or a 300ZX they're great, fun, chick magnet cars. :evilsmile

FWD cars are made to be economical daily drivers, not hot rods. Civics, Camries, Mondeos, are used as daily transportation. That's what they were meant to do. However, the sporty versions of these kind of cars aren't my thing :tsk: , actually, I hate them.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all of you guys.
    Isaac

I liked one Opel GT, that I saw on the street in the 70's, but that one had a 392 Hemi in it. Now if they came stock like that- -hmmm.

We have freedom of speach. As long as no one gets offended. Well, god forbid.

The SVX thing is a classic. I still have the PM's where Mr. Big Bad started crying like a baby and telling me how screwed up his life was and how his relationship was falling apart. That's when it got about time to end that one. LOL

This is a Canadian website, so it's not really "America"...:D

Actually, its an international website. The domain name is from Tonga (that is where the ".to" comes from), the site is hosted by a US company (earlier this year it was hosted with an Australian company), its owned by a Canadian and people from the US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and European Union are the predominant visitors.

I just meant that it's your site, and your rules. I am all for freedom of speech, but no one has to allow "freedom of speech" on their personal website. It's like your own house. People can't just come into your living room and say whatever they want. It's like house rules, so to speak. For example; I understand that a Canadian probably doesn't want a lot of Americans arguing about American politics on his website. I can imagine how I would feel if I had a discussion forum, and a bunch of Canadians, or Europeans or whatever, were arguing over the politics of their governments on my site...
