I saw one Maverick while I was there. A white 6 cyl out in the parking lot on a trailer for 3k. It had ill fitting sheet metal, poor paint (drips & peel), dents just glossed over, etc. Should this be what I expect for 3k?

On the other hand, there was a basket case 69 Mustang in the ag building for 10k asking price. It was claimed to be an original R code Mach 1, unrestored, with no powertrain. But 10K. I guess that's why I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll NEVER have the Mustang I've been thinking about since I was like 18 or so. Should'a bought that '69 coupe back in '89 when I had the chance.

Wow, did I get back in the project car game about 20 years too late or what? I guess I'll keep looking, and looking, and looking. I have a feeling my garage is gonna get rather lonely, unless I just pull the trigger on something and put someone elses kids through college at the expense of my own.

Sorry, vent over. Pretty big swap meet. A lot of crap. But some good stuff as well. Nearly all of it over priced in my opinion. I left with nothing but a tired 5 year old daughter who was extremely bored. Although she was impressed by the Lincoln drag car pulling into the car corral. Gotta be proud of that as a dad!

i scored a mach 1 hood scoop for the mav which is what i was looking for couldnt wait to get home and set it on there and it looks awsome.
i seen that hot rod lincoln leaving the car corral too it was wicked plus i did see that white mav wasnt too impressed with all the cobwebs on the engine but who knows it was a texas car looked pretty solid.

will post pics of my scoop later

oh and spork you lucky dog that is a nice dash pad

Sounds like everyone had a lot of fun.

Mach'er ... don't give up hope based on what you find at any swap meet. Guys bringing their cars there know what they have.

If looking for a Mav or Comet, look at Craigslist especially in the southern states. Lots of cars here in Florida that are pretty intact, some excellent cars for cheap in the SW states. To get a rust-free car, it will be worth it to pay shipping. (but I have seen cars that you could drive home here if you are feeling lucky ...)

Another place to look is Copart.com (y) You might even find the Mustang you are after.

Also, look on www.racingjunk.com as that is where I found my relatively rust-free Maverick for under $3000.00.

Man, I scored a load of parts!!
A pair of awesome lower quarters and trunk drops from Raymond, and a free fender to boot!! (thanks again!)
A headliner, a front window gasket, a headlight door. Some headers and a Orange coat hook from Spork101 (Louis)
    Some little parts I needed...
I met a bunch of Maverick guys. (Wilbur & Homermav, and others)
Plus the guys from "Dennis Carpenter" were staying at our hotel, and we had a good conversation about Maverick weatherstripping :D

My buddies said, you and Wilbur were parked behind my truck, I went over to get some other parts, so my guys were waiting in my truck (after we were all at Raymond's booth) and they said you guys were right behind us.
It's hard to talk when more than 3 Maverick guys get together, everyone gets excited.

Sorry I didn't see any of you there, we got there around 11 so we were a bit late compared to usual. There weren't 1/2 as many Maverick parts there this year as compared to last year. All I saw was a white one for sale in the parking lot and 2 Fenders for sale. Although I did buy the Mustangs and Fast Ford's magazine with Maverick Man's 73' and Ray's Grabber in it. Bought a 75' Super Modified mag with a Maverick article too. Plus I got 8 old vinyl records for a buck each. (y)

    Toooo many!
I had a great weekend, made about $650! Didn't sell any of my Maverick parts though. I got a few bites on my car. It was the red 72 on a poster for sale in case anyody saw it. ALMOST sold my grabber grill, twice, but no dice. :badwords:

5 bucks for a dash! I don't know if I can afford this hobby anymore. I may have to get into restoring vintage Porsches!

I wish I could have broken away for the big meeting, it would have been cool to get to know everyone!

    Jon

Didn't see the poster. What did it say? Yup, I'm curious, plus I'm in SE MI as well. Perhaps send me a PM.
