mustang parts are cheap because they are a dime a dozen, try to get a cougar part that is not similar to a mustang part. then try and get a part for a GTO or a chevelle or a...... our parts will never be as cheap as mustang parts unfortunately. i agree it would be nice to have a few more repops though....

Interesting news, just hope the Mavericks used in the film are close to what most of us on this site have and not riced out:rofl2:

if a maverick gets some air time you know everyones gonna have to have them.

Anything that features a vehicle in a positive light will, if even by some small fraction, enthuses a select group of folks that will take an interest in it.

While a shame that Hollywood destroys cars, as mentioned in the thread, there are trade-offs. I think back often to the movie "Christine", with the 1958 Plymouth Fury. While by some folks' standards not a popular vehicle, I nonetheless became VERY interested once I saw this beautiful, sleek, RED vehicle ripping up the roads. I would not mind owning one at all, though I know many were slaughtered for the movie.

The good part for you Maverick guys is that, if indeed the Maverick is featured in the upcoming F&F film, it's a good promotion tool. For me, in the midst of building a Pinto wagon, I can really >never< hope for any positive light being shed on my car, since the whole history of the Pinto is shrouded in a dark light of media hype and misinformation. Oh well, I'll own one of the few on the planet that has had a complete restoration.

It's not crazy to think there could be a glimmer of truth to this Maverick rumor. The man I bought my Maverick from in Washington was contacted by Universal studios wanting to buy the car for an upcoming movie. Evidently they needed quite a few of these cars and they were seeking out some pretty nice ones actually. Too nice to crash up.

Whether or not this was for Fast & Furious V, well that would be a hell of a cool story to go along with my car.

RUNNING 1968 Mustang with NO frame rust!!!!

I also know where there is a rolling 1968 Mustang body with all the rust repair done for $800.00.

The deals are out there, you just have to be patient and look in the off the beaten path areas.

    Scott,

    Nice grab on the Mustang.

I wouldn't believe cheap ones are out there myself, until I was offered a really empty 68 Mustang coupe roller for $300... this was a really long deal through a friend of a friend. Both would have benefitted if this car was sold. If I had a place to store it, it would have been mine. I felt physically ill to not be able to grab it.

The car had no hood or trunk, no motor or trans, and no interior but seemed solid enough. Needed some floor pans, the body was really OK and had been in storage for a long time. Originally a six cylinder car. The guy got tired of seeing it take up space in his storage and he was into Fox Mustangs ... needed the room.

The car looked like the perfect empty slate to go really modern with. It is a good thing that I didn't get it. I have a hard enough time making progress on my Comet. I still probably could have churned that one over and doubled my money, and made someone very happy.

Universal Pictures bought a total of 10 Mavericks to use as crash cars for The Fast and Furious 5... mine being one of them. It is the hugest regret of my life, I feel like I have sent it off for slaughter (which I kinda did).

If it is supposed to be in Brazil why would they being buying up a bunch of American Mavericks anyway? Wouldn't they just buy them in Brazil and leave them there when they were done with them?

Seems it would be cheaper to buy them over there rather than buying them here, fixing them up and then shipping them over to Brazil and then having to ship them back?

From what I have seen on their websites, the prices of their cars are WAY up there!
