Do your self a favor and pick up a set of Remflex gaskets and you will never have a header leak i use them on turbo builds and they are awesome and affordable

ABSOLUTELY.. those gaskets are awesome and I've been using them for years now without so much as a pinhole leak from any of them. Which of course makes them even better for computer controlled vehicles with custom exhausts. I still use loctite or locking fasteners for good measure.. but I do know that they stop a lot of loose bolts on race cars running on solid mounts.

I also have a bud with TT Supra that sprays a 50 shot to help spool up and he has never blown a gasket running 16 lbs of boost.

They also bend over backwards to get parts to you when time is at a premium.

Only downside to them that I've ever run into is the extra thickness gained at the flange which can throw tight installs off enough to require clearancing or heat wrap to stop contact/heat soak into surrounding surfaces/parts. Well.. that and the fact that I always feek bad about having to replace perfectly sealed gaskets when I work on cars that have them. You can get by on ocassion with reusing them.. but typically they delaminate and need to be replaced because they are so fragile due to the layered construction.

Highly recommended to anyone who doesn't do a lot of R&R of their exhausts.. or when finishing up a build that you don't want to monkey with for quite some time. (y)

I have been told that the transmission tunnel on the 1970 is smaller that the later years. Is that true? The reason I am asking is because I put a T5 in my 70 last night and when I jacked up the transmission to where the engine was level like before, the transmission hit the tunnel. I hated to do it, but I took a dye grinder and split the top of the tunnel and raised the tunnel about an inch or so. This did however, let my existing crossmember work by just turning it around, and my drive shaft has the same pitch as before also. Oh well. Just a little more metal fabrication.

So everybody that is modifying their crossmember and lowering the transmission no longer has the engine level? Seems like that would screw up the way the oil returns in the engine. It looked to me like it was almost as easy to modify the tunnel, since I had the interior out, as to build a new cross member.

I'm curious as well. I'm not much of a mechanic ;), and everything is a bit of a learning curve for me. My mav has been switched from a c4 auto over to a 4spd tranny that needs a rebuild, but I'd rather put in a t5, just didn't know how much trouble it would be. Any info would be appreciated; you'd be helping someone who can't much help themselves:rofl:
