I could write the speed reading version. At the green light mash accelerator. Release and brake after 1/4 mile. Dan
Dennis I could write something up from a beginners viewpoint and if ya wanna use it fine...if not thats ok too. I might be able to add one or two words to Dan's synopsis...lol Ray I just sent in my application and dues today...finally got off my lazy butt
one of the first things you are going to find is that the classes are different in certain parts of the country. for instance our street class in nhra division 7 has a lot of purpose built cars in it. tranny brakes and 2 steps are allowed. in most of the other divisions they are not allowed. our limit is 12.0. most of the other divisions are 13.0. what i'm getting at is the article on how to get started prrobably should cover the basics of what the track layout is like, what to expect. how to get off the track safely (yes, there is a right way and a dangerous way). how to get through tech and who to listen to at the track. engine specs and stuff like that can be in the future. but i would really like to see more people experience the fun and friendship that comes only from the track. i could probably write a little something, but i'm sure it would take me a month or so. and i also know there are others who know more than i do and can write better than i can. let me know if i can help. i do have some resources that i can use(plaigerize).
Hey Dennis, I could write something if you like. My speciality is short blocks and heads, (WHY PORT YOUR HEADS) (TO STROKE OR NOT TO STROKE) let me know if I can help. I would need someone to proof read it because my speeling is real bad. Terry P.S. Country thanks for the great post, I almost forgot what it was like and how slooooow my car was the first time at the track.
All tech articles are welcome. You guys better send stuff soon. I have very little to put in the next newsletter, so far.
I just wanted to thank everyone who posted or read this thread. I know I got a whole lot out of it, and I really appreciate you all taking the time to help out some of us who are new to the game. I really, really appreciate that. Good luck at the races.........Preston
