If you look at these timeslips where the guys have 1/8 and 1/4 times, you'll see that my 7.26 time is right in that range. I'm #38 http://mmb.maverick.to/timeslips.php?do=eighth&perpage=25&page=2
NHRA uses a 1.6 conversion factor from 1/8 mile to 1/4 mile. Other people use 1.56. Both will get you close.
an 11.49 in the 1/4 mile would be a 7.36 by my calculations. I was told to covert 1/4 mile et to 1/8 ,mile et you multiply 1/4 mile et by .64.
Ray, for every .05 you pick up in your sixty foot the rule of thumb is you gain another .05 on the top end of a 1/4 race. I have a feeling once you get your Caltracs right where you need them to be, you'll be coming home with a big old smile on your face. After I knew that I had my motor doing all it would do, I when to work on my 60's and that is a great place to increase your speed. One other thing to think about is rotational weight. The rule of thumb here is for every 100 lbs of dead weight you remove you gain a 10th of a second (speaking in 1/4 racing) now this is something that's not always easy to do, but for every 10 pounds of rotational weight you remove it's like removing a 100 pounds of dead weight. That's not as hard to do! Just something to think about Keep everyone posted as to what happens on your next time out. Bossmav
Well, I went to the track again last night and was able to get in two more passes. Five hours and only 2 passes. Geez!! And I never got out of line the entire time. Oh well, here's what I got: 1st pass: et=7.151 RT=.3411 60ft=1.692 330ft=4.863 mph=86.70 2nd pass: et=7.203 RT=.3930 60ft=1.731 330ft=4.937 mph=88.56 I can still feel room for improvement. Planning on going again tonight. Still hoping to get in the 6's. Hopefully there won't be as many people as there were last night. That was unbelievable.
Update! 7.01 Pass!!! Okay guys..got a new update. Made a couple more passes tonight. Straight off the trailer I got a 7.016...best pass yet. My next pass I changed lanes to see if it was any better and try to get in that 6 sec range. Didn't happen. Still got a pretty good pass with a 7.095. I was able to make a 3rd pass but my carb was loading up a bit. Think I got a piece of trash in it. I also missed 3rd gear trying to catch up with a faster car but still squeaked out a 7.226. Not even gonna count that one. Anyway, here's a breakdown on my 2 best passes for the night: 1st pass: et=7.016 RT=.098 60ft=1.673 330ft=4.791 mph=89.81 2nd pass: et=7.095 RT=.173 60ft=1.700 330ft=4.861 mph=89.63 Will go again tomorrow night for the bracket race that's been getting rained out. Gotta clean the carb in the morning and may take the mufflers off and put a couple gallons of go-juice in at the track. I'm betting that might help me break that barrier. I'll keep you guys posted.
