    You admit you are "green" and you haven't "gone down this road before". Stay away from rust....ANY rust if you can. The money you save now buying a rust bucket is spent 10 fold later trying to fix it.

    I agree with Craig rust is a pain. The other thing to look at is underneath. If you want to suspension upgrades you will need to unbolt thing that if they are heavily rusted you can rip out nutserts and then you get way above novice skills. You may be money ahead to take a road trip down I-5 and see what you can find. I got a parts car that had been from Chicago and I cut as many bolts as I was able to unscrew.
