I understand what you're saying now. When I read you're post - I read SHOCK TOWERS and left off BRACES. I kep thinking that you were saying that you had to convert it to M2 to get EFI to work and that didn't make sense.
ohh its cool. the 250 radiator actually uses the same size hose inlets as the 302. so technically you could stick with the rad you have. thats what im going to do. if it does get too warm for comfort i'll replace it then
I'm a little late to this party, but here's my two cents: The 89 Crown Vic motor, if it has the E6SE heads, will have pistons with no valve reliefs. As such you cannot swap heads AND the cam, without changing the pistons or machining reliefs in the tops. The reason these pistons do not have reliefs, is simply that they didn't need them. The E6 heads are really unique pieces. The chambers are deeper and the valve seats are 1/8" deeper into the head than all other Ford small block heads. This is why Ford chose not to use valve reliefs in the pistons in the 5.0's with these heads. You can swap cams using the E6 heads, but swapping cams and heads creates insufficient piston to valve clearance. The E6 valves also cannot be used in other SBF heads, the stems are shorter. Using a cam with better specs than the HO roller would be questionable, given the flow charateristics of these heads.
Yea, same ones. They were used in the big Ford/Lincoln/Merc cars til the end of the 5.0 in them in 91. A few pickups got saddled with em too.
sorry starting the thread back up but I used an accel direct replacement distributor I got off of ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Accel-Distribut...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 (i know it is linked to a 351w distributor but I just did a quick search on the guy I bought mine from) It has the hardened gear for the roller cam already installed and you splice it into your wiring. The one thing suggested is to get a hotter coil to go with it. I have an 87 t-bird 302 and it is a roller motor remember if you have any aptitude on rebuilding carbs and stuff like that Ebay is your friend I got an Edelbrock 650cfm carb for 65 bucks and a weiand stealth for 45 bucks. I got two kids I can't afford to buy that stuff new.
heres a question that poped into my head the other day will the stock cooler lined from the C4 up to the radiator be able to clear the 302 or would you have to rebend some and run them closer to the frame rail?
Just rebend em. I used a set of stainless lines from a 93 E150 van in my 77 Comet. Didn't have to alter these much at all. And they came off an 5.0/AOD combo. They normally run along the passenger side oil pan rail.
I ran E7 heads on a lincoln motor with no valve reliefs and an 86 HO roller cam with no problems. I hear some going as high as a B cam but you will need good valve springs to make this work. E7s flow better than the E6s but neither set possess great flow characteristics.
Thanks for all added input for now, I will get a Distr, ignition , front sump pan, carb and intake, headers and keep the stock set up for cam and heads, suggestions on intake and carb? Mild is ok for me, the switch from the 250 to pretty much any 302 will still be better than the output of my 250 with a 1 bbl carb. I can build for more poser once I have had this [plant in my car for awhile.
Just getting a " feel "for things what do you guys think of this intake, any ideas if it would work, and what carbs I could use with it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/289-...006QQitemZ160228256880QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Hey just checking some things , any one recognize this intake what carb set up could I use with it, will this work with an 89 roller? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/289-...006QQitemZ160228256880QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
