Will the '75 power brake parts fit on a 74? I want to convert my manual drums to power disc. I have the spindles, rotors, calipers, and proportioning valve from a 1980 Granada, and want to put them on a 74 comet.

Everything from a 75 bolted up nice on my 70 with the exception of having to drill a new 1" hole in the firewall for the brake plunger to go through in a different place. these are the parts I swapped: pedal assembly, angled firewall bracket (still attached to booster in this pic), booster, and dual chamber master cylinder,

and spindles, calipers, flex hoses, rotors

and this, hard to find, magic piece:

the driver side power brake shock tower brace.

Here's a pic of the firewall showing the brake plunger sticking through the new hole we had to drill out.

You don't have to remove the whole dash assembly like we did. We are adding A/C so had to switch to a dash with vents and had the dash out anyway. It's easy to reach just by remove the steering column,

The cheapest way to do it is to buy a parts car and take everything you need off of it , sell the good bits you don't need and then scrap the carcass at the metal recycle yard.

From my parts car I got : complete A/C system, complete dashboard, complete 5 lug 3:1 rear axle, complete power disc brake system, coil springs and leaf springs, complete power steering system, steering column, trim pieces, emblems, screws, bolts, body clips, brackets, etc. I think easily over $1000 worth of stuff. I bought the parts car for $350 and have already sold the body for $25 and have many good parts to sell to recover some expenses.

Hope you repaired the cowl while you were down there, that thing is toast.

    Yeah, it's wasted.
I don't weld, or I would have saved that part from my 75 parts car and tacked it in.
My dad is really good with fiberglass and epoxy resin fabricating. It come from 40+ years of owning boats of many sizes.

We'll build it back up and re-attach the vent and paint it to look like it was put there by Ford, only purists will care, I'm after a solid build for an amazingly low budget. We have the epoxy resin and the glass mat already.

If I dont end up buying a parts car, I might be interested in the shock tower brace, power booster bracket, pedal assembly, and rod. I am assuming I can get the booster and MC from parts store.

Hey Dave, I'm curious as to why the original setup could not be used by just changing to a smaller vacuum booster and the non-PB spring tower brace. My original reply in this thread was regarding a non-power setup.
