when i replaced my idler arm, i took it in for an alignment and they told me i needed to replace it because it would not let them align it. they did not charge me until i brought it back. same for my uncles 65 mustang when his spring seat bushings were going out. if your boss at the shop was charging people when you told them their car could not be aligned, then its good you dont work for him anymore. i am trying to help him out, because he may just need the alignment and shops cannot replace parts until you tell them to. no reason to buy the parts until your sure you need them. as it is the second time i was told the idler arm was bad, i discovered the problem was a bushing further down the steering arm not the idler arm its self. sorry if i wasnt clear enough or if i offended you in any way.

OK, Cool....... I have been turnin wrenches for a long long time. Way back when I first started I learned that if you treat your coustomer right, take them out in the shop and show them what is bad and explain what you will be doing and why, give them a fair price, and above all treat them with respect, you will have a coustomer for life. I, as a mechanic have never once replaced a part that did not need to be replaced, or charged for something that I did not do. I just wish that all of the people in the busniess had the same job ethics that I do. Advice is always free, even if it means getting the car up on the lift pulling the wheels off and looking to see what needs to be done, giving the coustomer an estiment, and showing them what needs to be done and letting them decide if they want to do it or not. Sometimes that takes 30 to 45 min out of a day, but in the end it pays off.

Sorry for getting a little testy. I was on the Mustang Corral site a few nights ago and all those people seem to be able to do is point out all the bad or slightly incorrect things people do or say. They are like a bunch of vultures just waiting for someone to slip up so they can attack them. I just dont want this site to be that way. We have much better cars than they do and are much harder to find parts for and they have thier own little quirks, Just want everyone to help out and hope that all of us get our cars to show room quality, or just the way we want them.

I know we got off topic for a while but I just had some things to say.

I guess its because I'm old and grumpy :(

no problem, being on some of the other sites can test anyones patience:mad:
on the strut rod bushings, is there a trick to replacing them without buying a new rod? thats the only part of the kit i havent put on yet, still sitting on the shelf. it just came with the bushings and bolts, but the mustang guys allways replace the rod with it:huh:
