Fuel tank setup diagram

    I think that is the issue. No seal. I didn't see a trunk boot either. I ordered the seal, guess I should get a trunk boot to. Good advice on the vaseline. The previous owner said the tank was new. I bet that's the issue.

    Melvins Classic Ford sells the seal, trunk floor gasket as well as a new seal for the gas cap.

    Just ordered a trunk boot seal and a fill pipe to body gasket and paid $15 for shipping. Thats a bit high to me.

    what gets me is...some people want these cars to be worth $20k but want $2 parts to restore/rebuild them...:huh:

    Im not complaining at all over the parts. I don't mind paying for rare parts. I just think $15.85 to ship to little pieces of rubber is high.

    my only comment is do price and part research...I am not going to pay big money for a part when I can get it for half that or less for the same exact thing from someplace else.
