Got the engine bay cleaned up a little, rechecked all the bolts and filled up with coolant. Distributor was 180 out, took it out and put in and still wouldn't start. Bryant took it out one more time and advanced it and it started out PERFECT! thanks Bry!

Probably should have used cheaper oil since I'm gonna drain it out but that's a lesson for later.

There were no leaks so far. Will do a test drive and retighten the intake bolts.

After starting the engine there was a rattle from the passenger side valve cover. Gonna look into that, I am 100% sure I tightened up everything and adjusted the rockers correctly .... so I'm curious to see what's going on there ....

    Next to do:
    -reinstall the exhaust
    -install the fuel pump
-drain the oil and refill it
    -weld up the shock brace
-start installing the new fuel system
-start work on the EFI harness
    -install EFI
-install 3 new gauges and run wires
    -remove T5 and inspect it
-get rest of the roll cage installed
-change rear gears back to 3.0
    -get anchors for the hood
-fix front shocks, the mounts are sagging
-consider better UCA and LCA if I have it in the budge
-rear sway bar bracket is bent, get stronger bracket

Just a few more days of craziness at my job and I'll be able to start working on the maverick again. The EFI work is highest on my list. Looks like I have most of everything I will need to do the Megasquirt EFI conversion. I will probably run the same tires as I did last year. The suspension overall is pretty good, I have a few tweaks to do and I am going to make one more major upgrade, the UCA and LCA.

I was interested in these aftermarket spindles but don't know if there is a lot of benefit to having these forged, large bearing granada spindles.

I finally found a used HANS device and got a killer deal on it from racingjunk, saved me a lot of money. Looks like I have to do a lot less work on the aerodynamics than I initially thought so that's gonna save me some money for this race too.

I need to get arm restraints, any suggestions? I don't quite understand where arm restraints connect to. The purpose of them is to keep my arms in should I get into a bad crash right?

What's a window net for? And where does that attach to?

I don't see why you would need arm restraints, those are for open cars, not enclosed cars like the Maverick..................even the SCCA doesn't require them in GT1 if it is a full bodied car.
As for the window net, it has a metal bar going through the net on the bottom and on the top. The bottom bar is welded to the side cross bar in your cage, and the top is welded to the halo bar on your cage. The release is like a seat belt release and you swing it down to get in, but it stays attached to the bottom.
    Here is a picture of the hardware needed;

Here is the top mounting with the ring the bar fits into on the left upper of the picture and release on the right with the orange.
