That might be because a Grabber is more expensive to repair if in a collision (grabber hood, grille, sport lamps, ect)

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
The only difference between a 74 grabber and regular mav were the stripes.

Yes, but insurance companies use guides based on repair cost histories. These are often grouped by a cars make and model, and not necessarily by model year. The Grabber model probably (I'm sure) has a much higher repair cost average on whole. Jamie having a 74 doesn't mean anything to the insurance company, all they see is a VIN code of 93 and they go off the history of VIN 93 cars. In the insurance world this is called "banding a premium" it is the same way health insurance works. People of certain age groups are banded with others. So regardless of your health history, when you hit certain ages your premiums go up. Same reason insurance companies drop driving liability rates for people when they hit certain ages or get married. All based on statistics and history patterns.

i bought 302 springs for mine... from checker auto parts... then i cut off 1 coil before i even checked it.. and i like the look.. i may go lower... but for now it nice..

just make sure to get decent shocks.. so it wont bottom out over the speed bumps.. mine did... and its scary when you have a deeper tranny pan than stock

I wanted to chime in...I bought a set of I6 coils myself and they were exactly like the V8 springs. At least I had a spare set if I screwed it up and cut too much. Didn't need to though. I ended up putting them into a bucket of water (5 gallon) with just the coil that I wanted to cut off sticking out. Then I used my air powered cut off tool. Worked good and quick. If you have time, just go one half coil, install them and let it sit overnight. Mine lost like an extra inch after sitting, but they were used springs. Give it a try, it really makes the Maverick look mean!

What's the point of putting it in a bucket of water?...
