My friend had the 4spd trans stolen out of his 67 GTO while it was in his driveway, about 15 feet from the house! Who ever did it didn't even wake up his dog!

I have become truly immune to some of the conversations that you will have with the public regarding old cars. Many times, the toughest part is keeping a straight face.

Long time ago, I had a neighbor, that I am quite sure was down a few IQ points, and that is the only reason that I cut him any slack. He started telling me about the Lamborghini that was wrecked as they dropped it, getting it off the boat.... well, seems that his dad dropped that motor into a Camaro, and the darned thing ran 230 mph.

He got really quiet when I (and I do mean politely) suggested that car should have been entered into the Indy 500, because he would have had the field covered by 30 mph.

I exploded with laughter as soon as he was out of earshot. I thought I was going to rumpture something if I held it in any longer.

Nowadays, someone BSing about a car and sends up a red flag in my mind, I just agree with them, and try to find a reason to move on quickly.

Life is too short to waste on folks who are too busy proving what they don't know. :thumbs2:

I can definitely imagine a VW engine getting swiped.

In college, a buddy had a Fiat Spider ... tiny two seat rear engine sporty convertible. He needed to rebuild the engine. Three of us dropped that 1600 cc throbbing monster onto the ground. Then, we got a fourth guy, and we all picked up the back of the car, and wheeled it away, so that we could grab the engine and bring it back to his dorm room.

I wouldn't want to try this in the dark, while trying to be quiet about it. Hell, I wouldn't have wanted to try it sober. :biglaugh:

His roommate was not happy .... for about two solid weeks ... tripping over parts in that 10x15 room. :p

I borrowed my Mom's car one time, my wife was 8 months pregnant at the time, and we were going to the drag races, and since the a/c didn't work in my Thunderbird, I figured it was a nice gesture, since she could stay cool since it was August. Anyways.. in the morning I got up and decided to load the cooler in the car, I walked out to the parking lot at our condo...I looked left...then right...closed my eyes, and shook my head...my Mom's car was gone!! So, I walked down the street, grabbed my Thunderbird, and went to the races. My wife got to sit in John Forces trailer since it was extremely hot. I got a few spark plugs out of his car, and it took 2 weeks to find my Mom's car :( She called the cops while we were at the races.

Remind me to never let you watch my car! Then again...Anything that gets stolen from mine gives me more reason for an upgrade so I wouldn't complain to much....except it'd be a horrible walk to work and back prior to fixing it.
