good way of putting it mark..lol...very good...oh and btw..state certified mechanics in the state of nevada have a state specified minimum wage of $60 an hour...my father was one..taught me well.best mechanic in las vegas (ask any mechanic in town who micah kittel was) lol...very very inteigent man...
Well, start yourself out with one of those small kits that have a little of everyhing for tools. Do what I do read up on them or ask the guys here, then just dig on in...
BTW, Warm Transmission fluid is great for your hair! Keeps it shinny, managable, dandruff free, regrows lost hair and finally, knots easily just comb right out!
I guess it is about owning a maverick thats keeps the back of your shirt dirtier than the front. I spent 1 full racing season under mine! Went through alot of shirts. But, I can sure pull a tranny out in nothing flat, now!
Put on a pair of gloves, I have a gas tank and radiator you can have. I think I have three two core radiators and the tank is from a 71. I work at March ARB so I can drag them to you if you want them.
WooHOO! The 4 amp SFE worked. My dash lights now work. Thanks! Now there is one bulb (I think) in the middle that may not be working. Or is there always what appears to be a shadow there? I could get to the right-most bulb but I haven't figured out how to get to the others. Thanks again for all of your help! Paul
Yeah Sure Tomas, Thanks for the offer. I've sent contact information to you via PM. Thanks! Paul PS: My car can be seen at: http://www.aesthesia.com/mavhtml (I'm working through the HTML so it looks nicer but you'll get the idea anyway).
well guys..we have ourselves one more certified maverick nut(fast at getting pics up!!)..lol...yeah, i knew it was a tiny fuse..for some reason i thought it was a 2...maybe thats why mine keeps blowing..but yeah, htere is veery little light provided from the dash lights(poor placement?) but they look fine at night.. those original hubcaps on yer mav there?? neat-o..theese cars are a pain sometimes..but they are fun, and worth all the time and money..lol
. Don't get me wrong Paul, I'm not trying to discourage you. You're the proud owner of a Maverick, and welcome to the club. Just try to keep an open mind about everything. Worrying about your hands and not liking the feel of grease on your hands (even with gloves!) and saying that you have no desire to ever get a set of tools isn't exactly a positive signal for people that might want to help you out with this car. But, whatever, do whatever it is that you think you should do.
The hubs someone referenced are original. They're pretty badly dinged up though so I'm not sure if they're really salvageable. I was planning to change out the wheels eventually. Probably after I have the mechanical stuff done. The missing stripe of trim from the front driver's side door is also in the trunk. So, eventually, I could actually have a pretty sharp, mostly original car. I do have a weird question though. It's regarding the gas cap. I've been using one of the locking type but when I got smoged they said that the cap I had wasn't holding pressure. What is the pressure in a tank for and, is there a locking type that isn't as hard to put on/take off, and possibly looks better? Also, shouldn't I have the cap that actually has the Mav logo on it? Right now I'm using one that doesn't lock and it scares the hell out of me. I can't afford to have someone messing with my fuel (stealing the gas it or sugaring it) and being in SoCal, the population density is high enough that I'm concerned. When the light is better I'll take more pictures (I'm quite a night person by nature). I really am excited that this is all coming together! Hope everyone is having a good time! Lates, Paul
Your gas tank is not really pressurized per say, its just fuel vapors may build up causing a little pressure. I'm not sure how they measure that at a smog test but I'm guessing it is done to insure the fuel vapors are being sucked into your emission system and not being vented into the atmosphere. Look to Ebay for the correct cap. There are usually a half dozen of them on at any given time.
They test the gas cap to see if it holds pressure. The one I had didn't because the gasket was mangled. I'm guessing the mangling happened due to putting it on and taking it off. The design is weird in that you have to mash it to the opening until it clicks and then twist it so it stays in. Right now I've just got a lame and ugly cap on it that is not secure at all. Another question I have regarding security. What can I do to secure my hood so that when I'm parked in LA my battery doesn't vanish. One of my exes had a Dodge Dart that some miscreant took the battery from while we were in LA. Lates, Paul
I'm a clutz. Razor blades would get me pretty badly before I ever even got them taped on the car. Besides, it's likely I'd forget they were there and end up with several stitches about two days after I put them on. Do you know what part no. or model number that gas cap is expjames? I've gotten hooked up with an original 74 owner's manual and the multi-book set of factory service manuals. The 5 volume all-Ford car set, which includes Pinto to Lincoln, all models, all engines, etc. The 5 volumes are Chassis, Engine, Electrical, Body, and Lubrication. I'm hoping this will help me out quite a bit regarding questions I don't know how to ask at the very least. Ideally it'll help me understand more about my car. Hope all is well with all of you! Paul
