yeah I was talking about sac. what could it possibly take to run that place? the last time I was there they charge (test and tune) $7? a head to walk in and there were atleast 100 people in the stands thats $700 there plus there were around 30+ cars to race I dont remember what they charge to run your car. if they charged $20 a car thats another $600 plus whatever they sold in the snack bar. I spent like $20 on hot chocolate and fries so maybe they make $2000 every wednesday ( I think is the night they test) thats $8000 a month for one night a week IM sure the insurance isnt cheap and I dont know how many people that work there are paid but they gotta be making some money there. then theres race night on the weekend thats more money

Just left another site where they were saying that someone who runs a road racing course at the track has said that a deal to keep FB open has been signed, but nothing is being released about it yet. The guy that posted this is usually in the know.:)

Keeping my fingers crossed on Firebird!

I'm gonna join the rally for Speedworld this weekend as well. I don't know who to believe in this argument, but I feel that I need to show my support for the track itself (if not for what the owners have done). If it doesn't work out with these owners, maybe the state will see fit to lease it to another group for the dragstrip part of the area.

Just to put things in perspective, one 55 gallon drum of traction compound is around $500.................and I believe they have two on the tractor that puts it down..................that's $1000 just for a night of racing. Ofcourse you can water it down by adding alcohol..........but that kind of defeats the purpose.............so just for racing one night a week during the month they spend $4k in traction compound..................I have not raced at SAC, but my guess is they are cutting the compound................then there are Taxes/Rent/Lease, Electricity, Water,.................on and on and on. It ain't cheap by any stretch of the imagination......................and then you have management, and that's another story.
Now if you take Infinion, the owner spent $50mil just upgrading the race complex a number of years ago............but the owner owns a number of NASCAR race tracks............
The concession stands money doesn't go back to the track, it has to be self sufficient and pay for its self...................my guess is that they would need to make between $75 to $100k per month during racing season to stay afloat.............................Running a business isn't what it's cracked up to be...................................................................................IMHO

There is no time like the present........................all we need is 100 guys with $10k each.............and we would have a great start...............or 10 guys with $100k each............................I'd even manage the track for free....................ofcourse you'd have to pay my travel, room&board, gas,
clothes allowance, free use of the track for my friends and myself.....Oh Yes.....................and storage for my race car/trailer:yup:

Signed! We lost our local drag strip (Pennfield Dragway) and now have to drive 4+ hours away to race. It was 1/2 hour away from the Maine/NB border, so there were always lots of American cars coming up. Now it's used as a place to dry seaweed (dulse)!!

I hope you are able to save your track! Governments should be helping keep these places open, not threatening to close them because of some drainage issues!! Less tracks lead to More street racing.

Yeah, we can give millions in tax dollars for football, baseball and basketball stadiums to keep teams around...but try to save a race track and see where that leaves you!
