marti, if you find out what's going on... don't let us know.:rofl2: as for deals, that $750 stallion with cage on racingjunk.com looks like a pretty good deal to me. :)

I would guess an 8-pt would be plenty for anything I could throw at this car. I really just want to overcome the lack of air bags, since it will be primarily a street car, and will usually have family in the pass seat.

Since they sell it model-specific, doesn't it already come pre-bent? If so, I can do it myself, and my car is at that point right now (no carpet, seats just bolted down with wooden spacers, etc.)

Maybe the 4-pt would be enough? any suggestions? I don't want to add that "head banging on the bars" issue during an accident, don't want to have to wear a helmet.

i would think a loop or 4 point (loop with 2 bars to the rear) would be eniough.if you put forward bars in it will be a hassle to climb in and out unless you also install swing out bars.:)

I was wondering about that forward bar right in front of the door...thanks for the input.

Any idea if they are made to fit, or do I still need the abilty to bend tube?

I am intrested in info for the kind that is used in the back section. (leave it alone Frank...) I read the article in this thread and see the thickness now, but don't recall info on diam. I like the look of the bar going over head and back with two sides. I don't know the correct name for it, if any. I would like to add padding but don't want it REAL thick, round in diam is what I mean. How about mounting points... Where are they on our cars?

by back section I'm guessing your only talking about the rollbar, and sounds like a 4 point one at that. the drag sactioning bodies require a .118 wall thickness, most places you get tubing from sell a .134 wall tubing, so there is enuf to pass whatever tech. if your only wanting the main hoop and rear bars, 1 5/8 diameter is the norm for drag stuff, stock cars uses 1 3/4 diameter per their rules. these are mild steel figures on wall thickness, you can run less on chromemoly.

the mounting points are pretty much the same on the main hoop on our cars, just about where the rear side window starts-give or take(notice I'm meaning approximate) some go farther back . the back mounting areas depends on how you run your rear bars, I've seen some to to the inner fenderwells , some in the trunk, ect. some 1/8 plate will work great for your mounting points. weld to the plates..... whether you bolt in or weld the rollbar in is up to you.
    hope that helps(y)
