I don't believe it's reasonable to compare build quality for cars built four decades ago, to those built in this era. Mechanization, automation and robotics makes any kind of comparison unrealistic. We have'nt even got into the subject of chemical metal dipping and competition from foreign automakers. There are probably a few more issues I cud mention. Anyone who has watch programs like Ultimate Factories on some of the cable/tv stations can or should be able to relate to my point. We who own/restore/restomod and appreciate these old cars should do our best to enjoy them and realize that's just what they are OLD CARS. I wud'nt compare a new 1080p flatsceen tv to a crt made 40 or 50 yrs ago - same with my 2006 car compared to my 1973 Comet.
I very much agree with this... Our Era cars were built just like all the others of it's time ...you can't compare new cars to older cars.
I do not see 8K in this car even if we were in a good economy. Maybe 5-6K, if I was looking for just a driver. I do like the car, I would fix that fender and the misc stuff and drive it to work all week long.
The open market is working It's back (again): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971...4817927?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4cf69a3d87 Don't know everything that went on behind the scene when it "SOLD" for $8K last time it was listed. Nevertheless, it appears it's getting closer to what many of us thought was a fair price for this one, somewhere in the $4-6K range (considering the issues).
My observation is not a comment on the attributes of the car, it's a comment (at least it was meant to be) that the forces of the open market are at work here.
100% agreed. Besides a survivor Maverick or restored Maverick.... I choose a properly restored anyday. Its not like its a 427 AC Cobra or something. I personally couldnt care less about it being a SURVIVOR. I mean you know I love my Maverick but come on guys its a Maverick.
Looks like he didnt get that $8K. Its back on Ebay again. Probably his friends' friends bidding against each other. Buy it now for $6900.
More than likely some jacka$$ bidder, wanted a perfect, driving car..maybe the owner refused to let it go to the person that won???
It hit around $6,000 last time around then somebody had bought it... hes mot likely basing the price from Legitimate bids every time around its been around 6k. Id start high if i was the seller thats the way to sell a car. Its a Nice Survivor
