Looks like the horn wire is light green with red tracer under the dash and the wire changes to dark blue under the hood. http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/repair/pdf/73cometwiring.pdf
My trick for using an old Grant wheel was that the center cover had three (?) indents. In order to secure the cover, these would have to be pushed past the upper fiber layer of the horn contact, and that would damage that slightly. After pushing it past that layer, I would clock the cover a sixth of a turn so that the tabs were behind a good solid surface. That meant that the gap for the contact was more uniform, and it would not drop and short out as easily as if you are using the dinged up sections of the contact. I took me two or three episodes of having the horn short out to figure this out if I am recalling correctly. Frustrating design, but that ended up making it tolerable.
The problem with Grant adapter is the tiny horn wire can't handle the amps the horn is pulling. It is best to let this wire trigger a relay.
Another splendid idea. Probably not a bad idea for the stock horn as well. No real need to have that much juice going into the car if you have a better alternative. I want to do a headlight relay as well.
