I have one sitting next to the car on a stand. It's not technically an HO but it is a roller 5.0 out of a Bronco. I have an Exploder intake and TB for it. It will do the trick for what I want.

Both of ours have 5.0's out of Mustangs but are now running carbs. Have another complete one and a short block in the garage.

Frank-en-gine. E7 block with '86 pistons, mildly ported E7 heads, HO cam, Performer intake, Summit 600 CFM carb, HEI dist, '72 timing cover, belts and accessories. Finally got it running well once its warmed up. Think it misses the manifold-heated air. Dynoed at 200 RWHP. Was hoping for a little more given the ported E7 heads, Doug Thorley headers and dual exhaust.

Thought about Mustang EFI but have almost decided against it after learning of problems some have after making engine mods. Think EFI with engine mods might be for people who know something about that stuff. Think carbs are simpler and cheaper to change than the '87-'93 sbf EFI I was considering.

Now thinking about a carbed, roller tappet 347. Tomorrow I'm gonna visit a guy in Charlotte, NC that builds them.

That's what I thought but then us novices always expect more than we get.

Trans is a 500 HP Street/Strip C4 from Broader Performance with stock converter. The 600 Holley that I had on it for the dyno run wasn't working just right under light throttle but it ran like a deer at WOT with correct air/fuel ratio.

From what I've read those stock engines ('86-'88 HO) typically dyno about 200 RWHP. I expected a little more with my setup. Maybe the shortie headers are restricting it? Don't think I hurt it with the porting. All I did was take out the thermactor hump and smooth things a little.

    Sorry for the hijack.

Stock 200 sounds about right. That is just shy of 300 at flywheel. My moderately modified engine got 260 rwhp. Or approx 330 at flywheel.

Yea, mine only made 215RWHP, 294ft/lbs of torque with a T5 but it's completely stock as well, except for the 65mm throttle body and headers.
