Sounds a lot like my truck, you'd never know looking at it that I paid 2500 for it, then put another 5000 into it. Now it's sitting in my driveway still not done and now not running after a couple electrical fires.

But think of it this way.

I keep telling myself, my wife, and anyone else who bitjes about what I spend, "how much did you spend on YOUR car?"

The answer is always somewhere in the range of $15,000 to $50,000. Sometimes more.

I have $6k into a car that I can light up and drive anywhere at anytime. With a NEW engine and fresh transmission.

Even after I get it painted and possibly double that cost, it is still a cheap car at $12k.

If I only am referring to the Maverick and Comets, then it's no big deal, since they are all projects. So far, The efforts have been more physical than financial. My problem is I can't seem to be happy with just one and keep buying them.

As to the others, well, that's a different subject. I quit keeping score on them some time ago. I just keep telling my son that I am building up his estate. I like them all.

Most people don't buy mavericks as a comparible alternative to a late model. For instance, in '07 the wife got an '06 Toyota Scion XA with 5K miles, air, auto, power all, CD stereo, ... , 35 MPG for $12,999, with the remaining factory warranty in place. Hard to get this kind of deal if you rush things, but if you spend as much time searchig for the right deal on a used late model as we do for our maverick projects this is what 13G's can get ya. :yup:

I got my maverick because it would be fun and cool! The Scion is not fun or cool. Well, when gas got over 4 bucks it was cool ... very cool:dance:

I have just under 7K in mine. That includes purchase price, new carpet, new stero, new rr springs, new tires, Autometer gauges, license, registration and insurance. I bought the car 4mos ago
I need some rear axle service and some new seat covers and a paint job sometime in the future. I hope to come in under 11K w/ when all is said and done.

In reality, in 10 year it will have between 180 and 200 K miles on it and we will replace it with something that is electric powered:D
