    I have a 4500 in mine.
The thing I like about them is you can send them your convertor and they will build it to fit your needs.
When I need another one, I will use them, again.

    PTC

Just a word on my sons Mav and the converter, when it had a 302 in it(same one I run in my fairmont) we tried a PTC from Kenny. Either the dealer did not give the right info to him or there was a glitch there. The thing was a pooch out of the hole to say the least, took it out and put the Fairbanks 9in back in and won the championship many times. I am now running the Fairbanks in the Mont and after several years, needs to be refurbished. The Mav now runs a glide with a 350 converter built by Southern Transmissions in Pine Bluff Ar. Works great and nice people to work with, the PTC is used in the street/strip Mav that my youngest boy was driving, works great for that little motor. Not putting anything down on PTC's, know lots of them in very fast cars, just costs to much to have redone and shipped back and forth from here. Have used TCI, PTC, and some others I can't remember, but I think the Fairbanks is the best for true stall and reliability for the most part. Don't know if they still make them or not. Will have to cross that bridge this off season.

where did you hear it's illegal to sand bag? never heard that before. you dial your car and run what you want. i do think it's harder to sandbag than it is to try to run your car all out. just another way to lose. last race we had a guy blow his motor on the last time trial. he was within distance of the points leader so he ran his suburban tow vehicle. he dialed 24.99 and sat at the stripe. other car dialed 12.01. sat at the line for a long time. he punched it just as the other car came by and he broke out with a 24.69. lots of guys hold a hundreth or two in case they don,t run the number. i've tried it and all i do is break out. i try to run all out and if i have a little room at the other end drag the break a little.:bananaman

Don, at the "Clash of the Titans" event in San Antonio, they do not allow 'sand-bagging'. They will DQ a car if it is determined by the staff if a car has sandbagged or not. I know. That's a judgement call and can be a huge controversy. They do, however, give some degree of leeway. This is the only event that I know of that someone can be DQ'd for sand-bagging.

it's always sorry to lose that way but you know you ran a good race that 99 out of a 100 would have been a winner. i always feel good even when i lose like that as i know i've done my best. my problem this year is that i'm always worrying about going red. at least if your late your still in it to the end i figure. i hope i do
half as well next week at the division finals in tucson.
p.s. i can't sandbag as it is one more thing to clog up my brain.

    Impressive No's

I think the 60ft times are awesome for a 302, wish I could get down there. Best I can come up with in the Fairmont is 1.55 on 9in M/T's. The launch pad at our track has had some problems and this week a crew that refurbish's race track surface's is grinding it down and such. Sunday is dbl. points day and being I got into the top ten last race day, am a bit concerned on the traction factor on the new surface. Of course everybody else will be in the same boat so will see what happens. Maybe I should gear up a bit, nah, the converter is needing work so I'll leave it alone. Hope Lady Luck shows up too. Waiting to get some numbers on you, Mr. Book, am sure they will be in the winners column with the effort you have put into it. Good Luck to all.

    Dave and Ivy,

While I envy you guys, I'm still your biggest fans (along with all the other racers on this board).

I wish you continued success through the end of this season on even better - er next season.

I've pretty much given up on this season with my Maverick. I got in a funk and haven't worked on it in a couple of weeks. The last time working on it, I got frustrated at the botched wiring the previous owner did to it. It requires me to lay down on my back and work underneath the dash. I am 'still' recovering from my second ear surgery (new ear drum graft) and can't strain my neck muscles because it 'tears' at the new graft. So, I'll go back to the top side of the motor and wait for help from my local car club buddies to help me out. I guess, what I'm saying is, I don't know when I'll have it running. I will, however, have it ready for the first race of next season (we only have 2 months off-season here in Houston).

Again, 'continued success to all the drag racers on this board. You're all an inspiration to me.

Rick like so many others here on the board I wish I was closer to you, help would then be on the way. May you have a full and speedy recovery, but please don't push things, next season will come and then enjoy your car when you are completely healthy.

Good luck and God speed in your recovery.

    Thanks, Terry.

I have to remind myself that when I work underneath the car, or 'over do it, I am going to pay for it for the next couple of days (or longer).

My first ear surgery failed (graft did not take) because I separated the graft from the fused area - I don't know if it was because I was working on the Maverick or not. I could tell that sneezing alone would cause pain, followed by days of bleeding out of that ear.

I think we're all guilty of telling ourselves we can do things when we really shouldn't push it. Most of us here on the board aren't ones to easily wait till the doc says we can do something. I can tell by watching all the progress you guys do.

Unfortunatley, I HAVE to adhere to the doc's orders this time or lose all hearing forever if this graft doesn't take. The scar tissue will not allow the 'fusing' of another graft (3 strikes, I'm out).

I haven't really gotten into my personal reasons for not having the Maverick done already. I didn't wanna sound like a 'whiner'.

Hey, I feel better already fessing up!

Thanks again for the kind words. I enjoy following you guy's accomplishments. I'm living vicariously through you guys ("Yay, us!).

And you're right, there's always next season! :happy bananna dance goes here:

    looking for 9's as well........

I am planning on putting 4.11's in mine this winter. I want a 9 second time slip/all motor. I fell a little short at Muncie during the round-up, but I had to take a bunch of timing out of the car and left the starting line at idle just to get it to drive the length of the 1/4 mile with the 4.86's. I am hoping that the 4.11's will allow me to run the timing I need and get THAT 9 second slip!!!!

We need a forum on this board for bench racing!
