What strut bushings do you guys use? I want to replace mine and was thinking about these. Are they worth the extra money. I am planning on replacing my tie rod ends at the same time with some moogs also. Let me know. Thanks...

if you use the poly bushings on the strut rods, they will break after a while. the poly bushings are too stiff and cause the strut rod to flex as it swings up and down with the controle arm, fatiguing it to the point of brakeing. the brakeage usually occures on the freeway and the results are not pretty. those moog one will work nicely.

    help please..

Are there places that you recommend poly bushings? I'm new at this and about to order all of the bushings for a 71 maverick with a 4.1L 250 and A/C (don't know if that matters)...is there anywhere to get a list for all of the bushings on my car so that I don't leave any out when I order? Also, are there any other quirks you know about bushings besides not using poly on the strut rods?

the only other places in the front end that can use them are the lower controle arms, the sway bar end links and sway bar bushings. they are fine in these locations, although the lower controle arms busings are so small that there is not much to be gained here and you have to replace the entire lower controle arm just to replace the ball joints. so get the swaybar bushings and do the rest of the front end with stock replacement stuff. moog is usually considered the best replaments for stock stuff. you can get polyurithane for the rear leaf spring bushings and you will notice a improvement in the cars handling with those.

    App,

Here is a link to the kit that I used ... PST Polygraphite bushing and front end rebuild kit. You get the lower arms fully assembled. You have to install the bushings in the uppers, re-using the sleeves. It comes with tie rod ends ( I believe I had to specify ones for a later disc-brake car because I did that swap at the time, and the ends are different between drum and disc).

Nice kit ... these bushings are quiet.

I did get poly strut rod bushings too and installed them ... broke the drivers side rod about 6 months later. Fortunately, it let go at 5 mph going over a speed bump. Ripped the steering wheel right out of my hands. Would have been ugly at speed... head on into traffic going the other way. Get the Moogs for the rod bushings. :thumbs2:
