John, you're not out of line. I think I speak on behalf of a lot of the 'old-timers' here -we who enjoyed coming to the board and reading up on the latest progress or improvements or purchases a member has made - all without ridicule or lack of respect.

The lack of respect that is being shown by newer members - not just the latest - is sickening.

I didn't know this thread was going to turn into what it has. I'll delete it soon. I wish others others would consider deleting some of theirs as well.

Things, they are a changing. If it's not remedied immediatley, I'm afraid there'll be no turning back. It'll become just another platform for the "keyboard warriors" to hate on whoever/whatever everytime they visit the board. :(

One last thing - Guys (and this applies to a very few), we don't need to offer our negative opinions on EVERY SINGLE THREAD SOMEONE STARTS.

Also, I know, and most everyone here is aware, that "It's a free country!" No need to let that cliche' spew from your mind to the keyboard. It really gets tiring to hear and serves no purpose towards continuing the original spirit of the board - which I believe is to help and encourage our co-Maverick and Comet owners.

I'm going to have to put Rick Book on my ignore list. I just can't stand seeing him make posts that I agree with. :Handshake

There is no reason to delete this thread. What is this board coming to?? There has been no mud-slinging and no profanity, name-calling or racist remarks made. Just let it be. This forum does not need censorship. It just needs to be policed in such a way that things do not get out of control and nasty...

John is entitled to his opinion. I'm not loseing any sleep over it. I'm just an easy target because of my age.

T.L. hit it on the head. Apparently we have a problem here with comprehension and interpretation of what I and some others mean in some of our posts. Some people take every little thing someone says literally. I've also found that people who make posts like that rarely know the whole story behind what I and other members are talking about. They just make assumptions about what I and others are talking about and then want to make me out like the bad guy. Thats not the case. Alot of stuff goes much deeper then what may have been said in a specific thread. Sorry that I don't sugar coat everything. I constantly welcome people and encourage and help others with their projects when I can (although half the time I'm accused as a know it all by some guy in a mid life crisis). But I'll say something when I see something I don't agree with. Not everyone looks at the world through rose colored glasses.

As was said in another thread, it's not a 2 way street around here. Not for new members and not for younger members.

Not many practice what they preach either. One post in this thread is a glareing example of that. Walk a mile in my shoes... I'll shut up now because I'm obviously being disrespectful (not).

If you accidently come upon a rattlesnake, you can leave him alone and get out of his way or you can kill him if fell you danger and you have the advantage. You never ever grab him in the middle, antagonize, hold him up in front of your face, spit on him, and go nanna nanna boo-boo at him. You don't always get bit doing the first two. You always get bit doing the last one.

Yea, thats why I always chose to kill them or at least do my best. Because they could go on to bite somebody else or could come back at me. Weather that person appreciates it or not, or even hates me for killing that snake or thinks I had no right to, the fact is they didn't get bit and there is little chance of myself getting bit. If I die trying, well, at least I didn't sit around on my butt and do nothing.

    Jamie,
I am very sorry that I addressed my response to you specifically. It would seem that you have taken it as a personal attack. This is exactly the kind of thing that I was speaking against and wish to see left off of the board. Please allow me to clarify a couple of things.
First of all I wasn't complaining about the post I've quoted here, but rather about the use of insults, name calling and personal attacks in general. If anyone feels the need to "deal" with another member over some offence there are numerous other options, such as doing it by private message or email, or by making the rest of us aware of a dishonest member (as an example; please don't anyone take this personally!) by reporting the facts without the name calling, etc., or by reporting the problem to a moderator or to Stefan.
You don't have to stand by and let others take advantage of you.
I never suggested that this post or thread be deleled.
It doesn't mater if you're young or old. At 56, I'm older than most of you and envy you that; I don't JUDGE you for it. I've met guys older than me who were more immature than any 15 year old.
You're right; I may not be clear on all of the facts of this dispute; I don't see how that changes the fact that we can deal with it without stooping to the level of name calling and PERSONAL attacks - just stick to the issue and the facts, and try the aforementionned options.
Finally, I DO appreciate all of the good that you bring to this board, and hope that you won't think less of me for expressing this concern. I value your opinion of me and never wanted to generate ill feelings. I merely wanted to protect the integrity of this board as a safe place for people to come and look for info on Mavs, or to share and help others from their experiences in a spirit of comraderie.
Thank you for hearing me out. John B

No hard feelings what so ever. In fact, I agree with you 100%. I have spoke out on here against personal attacks like that in the past. Unfortunately, I was accused of not haveing "thick enough skin". Some say they won't stoop to that level. Well, thats their decision and interpretation of circumstances. I can't think of any other way to explain it then that. I wish everyone would handle things like you just did.
