Gotta research the best set up to smoke the tires, while not having traction issues. So tempted to go for the cheapo rumble glass pack muffler...even though it gives me a headache to listen to myself.
Did you mean for it to come out like that??? Im so confused. I would suggest this 1-- take the street tires off the car. 2-- Install drag radials. 3--Take the street tires and set them on fire. Now you have tons of tire smoke and lots of traction.
o iv got a way it not good for the motor but always funny i drive down the road and just kill the power and let the car roll in gear a few sec. hit the key and it sound like iv got a cannon in the truck i drove past someone walking down the street and done it and they to the ground it the funnest thing iv ever seen in my life
Lol.. No.. to the drag radials. But I appreciate the humor of setting the streets on fire for lots of smoke. I guess what I meant was, I want to be able to squeal the tires, without putting in a V8 or using drag radials/build. As I want this car to be my daily driver. If we had a better track around here, I would build a drag sooner, rather than latter. But we don't so daily driver/bad ass sounding and seeming street legal version of a drag car. Sorry if I am confusing anyone, I am sick as all get and haven't slept in more than a hour a day in 4 days now.
What scared me most when I drove the car was leaving a stop sign at an intersection and making a turn onto another road. I started to gas it and of course the torque converter is slipping, so your initial gut response is to give it more gas. My second thought was "if I give it gas during a turn and it does what it does on a straight-away, that tail end is going to end up in front of me!" So, yes, it could be driven on the street, but the driver would need to be VERY conscious of what the car is capable of under various circumstances. I am confident that with a tighter stall, that car would be REALLY FUN on the street!!! But with the current loose converter, it is trouble waiting to happen on accident. Still, I had a great time driving it and offered to put my slicks on it and let Ed run it at the track, but mine are only 26X10.5 and I am sure his car would eat them right up, and still get no traction. It would be like adding MORE gear to what it already has. I wouldn't run less than 28" tire on there. Bigger if it would fit. Ed, what size tires are on the back now?
Not sure where that came from If I didn't need my car as a daily driver, I would so be tempted to mod it for nothing but drag strip. Someday...someday.. But for now, would just enjoy it looking and sounding mean and lean
Yeah saw it...but nobody was fighting...or arguing You know there is something wrong with a maverick being a copy car.. just saying. :16suspect
igoback70 Sounds good. But I have a very similar sound with no muffler on right now. I will start watching videos..to see if I can figure out the sound, I was talking about.. and what muffler/exhaust combo it is.
3" collectors ---- 3.25 Galvinized pipes ---- 3' flowmasters, but the tone is from the 13.5 to 1 compression, thats where the deep pop comes from.
Wow Scoop your thread got jacked in a big way! Getting back to the original topic i think your just not use to the "Feel" of a converter.Lots of guys running super loose converters around here not dangerous at all.If i had to pick a converter out of my hat for your car i would put a 2800-3200 10" in it.And make sure you have a good external trans cooler.
Yeah... sorry I am going to shut the frick up. Or learn to post my own threads... lol ok shutting up now.
Yes, I agree. A converter in the 3000 +/- range would be fun. But Eds with a 4000 stall is ridiculous! It is FUN, but not safe or street friendly. But it was a BLAST to drive!!!!
