Kinda the same happened to me. I explained to the judge that I wasn't the only one speeding, he asked if I was going over the speed limit, "yes", "$80.00 fine and $60.00 court fee next case". :yikes:...

Shoulda said "No, but when I do, I always let em go" :D

Chris (the Boy) got a ticket for...laying 200' of drag...he was driving my '02 6cyl. S10 :yup: i told the Judge...the truck couldn't spin the tire a full turn. the cop told him she heard something..he broke it down to a ...city sound ordinance violation...$125 +c/c.
:hmmm: i was thinking more of...not gulity...being that's not what the ticket was for...
they were going to take his license for a year at first so we took the lesser of the 2. :yup: (a no points violation)

another note...he got a speeding ticket...82 in a 55...he told the cop he didn't know it was a 55 MPH zone...
i told him he knew it wasn't an 80 MPH nothing zone...

OK I haven't read through the entire thread yet WOW I never expected this thread would be 4 pages without the verdict.

Anyway the Judge was in rare form and was laughing and joking with everyone and he threw the ticket out before I even had to even explain anything. I wa sglad he said not guilty and that the officer that wrote the ticket had to sit in the court room for the majority of the afternoon basically for nothing, but I wish I could have told the judge that about how poorly the officer and his superior at the police station acted. But I didn't get the chance nor did I really have to say anything except not guilty.

When he asked how do you plea I said "Not guilty your honor, I think the officer will agree that the ticket was definetly written in error" The Judge called the officer's badge number and the officer stood up and said he had nothing further to add and had no further evidence and the Judge sad then I find you not guilty you are free to go and I left. . Boring but victorious afternoon in the P.G. County court system.

Yeah his pay is the same but he had to sit in a boring court room on a hard uncomfortable wood bench and he wasn't out on the streets for a day writing a bunch of bogus tickets making someone else's day miserable. Most of the cops I know HATE having to sit in court and a cousin of mine that is a cop said a lot of times the court date is scheduled on the officer's day off and they do NOT get paid anything extra for sitting in court on their day off. He said they do it as a deterant for writing bogus tickets that they know will get taken to court.

What I won was the fact that I didn't have to pay the $25 ticket and was able to make the officer sit in the uncomfortable court room for what amounted to no good reason, and our secretary told me that I don't even have to use my personal leave for the afteroon. She said that for a court hearing our policy is they give you administrative leave.

Nice to hear someone gets a fair shake in court for a change. Just pizzes you off that you have to spend time for a stupid ticket.

At least the next time I get stopped for a speeding ticket I can just tell the officer I was going fishing and I practice catch and release, just as I hope he does.:rofl2:

Problem is it still cost you. Either you gave up a day of pay, or you burned a vacation day for almost nothing. I had a similar situation on a parking ticket. When I read the code out in court, it clearly stated 1 ton trucks and over. Mine was a 3/4. So yea, I got it thrown out and made the cop look bad, but it pissed me off to spend my vacation day sitting in court.
