Ignition cylinders - difference?

    No they are little coil springs, five in all one fits on top of each set of pins, so there are two pins and a spring in each opening... I think the wire springs you mention are probably in the column??? If so those just keep the tumbler(lock) from wobbling in the column...

    They say a pict is worth a 1000 words, I'll shoot a couple tomorrow and post them...

    yes im talking about in the column where the cylinder goes.

    How would I determine what year my column is so that I know what cylinder to get?

    This is for a '71, is same as '72 and should be same as '70, dunno about later...
