I can certainly relate to the Avocado, as my Grabber had the same affliction, as did my Mother's 1970's kitchen and appliances. Getting rid of it has been a somewhat expensive undertaking. Ford must have invested millions in green plastic and vinyl.
I sold my Sebring Convertible and Trimuph Spitfire so far and selling off my F250 6.9 Diesel. So will be left with 3 cars. Keeping the Pinto and a late model Impala to drive. The Maverick is my keeper, but not certain what I'm doing with the King Cobra yet, it's being put together now with a roller block.
That's the stock Comet GT scoop(though mine is a clone)... I posted several pict in my under hood & front suspension resto thread... http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/my-1972-c0met-gt-clone.95746/
I'll have to do that I used to go to Twin Falls all the time. Not a bad ride there Do you have buckets?
If you want to see what a car like your's looks like restored check out Dave Boyer's. It might change your mind on the color scheme. I saw his at Carlisle, PA last year and it is a beautiful car!
No it won't. I couldn't stand the color back then to be honest and I don't like it all. I like the bright green
I'll start off by saying Boyer's car is awesome. I have seen only pics, but I really feel the car is well done. I would be proud to say it was mine. Having said that, I could not keep my Avacado interior, as it does not go with anything but white and green. The only white car I ever owned was my Boss 302, the rest were yellow or blue and the yellow has since given in to all blue. As for the avocado, I tried selling it, trading it. Tried facebook, this forum and craigslist etc. with no joy. If I were to have kept my car white and green, the avocado interior would have worked. One day I was going to keep it, the next day I was going to change it and on it went for months. I asked my lovely Sandi, I asked my friends, I got opinions from everyone short of the pope. It all boils down to what is in your gut. If you have to convince yourself at all about the colors, you will never be satisfied with your car. I decided to wipe the slate clean and start all over. This was a very expensive way to go, but I will end up with a car that reflects my personality and so should you. People may gag when they see my car, but I will be satisfied with it and that is what counts.
I absolutely hate green interiors, and green is one of my favorite colors in the world, just not for interiors. To each his/her own though. At the end of it all, you have to be happy with what you have, not what someone else likes.
