Supra TT would be nasty indeed, but the only import motor in mine will be spinning my CD's. :D

Why would i even think of it? First off fuel injection, second dual overhead cams, third not ****y push rods like a domestic v8, fourth lighter, and finally most JDM motors like an RB25 or Sr20 can make up to 500hp on a stock bottom end. But this is just an idea so.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
it been done already.. RB26DETT to be exact! its not my cup of tea! just as bad as putting a chevy in a ford.. but then again as long as they are a car buff.. no matter to me.. as long as they are in to cars :p

but never cut a import motor short! this motor will walk all over 3/4 of the cars on the board ;) i have three friends with this motor in their cars.. well not in a mustang but you know what i mean.

After seeing this thread I would do it just to be different. If you listen to half the poeple here we would all be driving 302 drag wannbe's or stockers.

Build your vision.............screw what everyone else thinks :D

As much as I love American iron, I have considered the great fuel mileage and economy of a turbo-diesel, from a Mercedes 300, in a Maverick. I don't think I would recoup my time and expense for such a swap for a long time in fuel savings, but a 50 mpg Maverick would be great. And, it would be much quicker than a stock 250 six-banger. I drive 330 miles per week to and from the office. Imagine only filling up every up 2 1/2 weeks.

    Nah....

Supra and Skyline motors are pretty expensive. Nissan's 2.0L is FWD, so you'd have to look for a 2.4 to 2.0 sylvia conversion kit. I've seen lots of 2.4 turbos though. I don't think the 2.4 head flows as well as the 2.0, but you can still make a pretty fun car out of it. I can't think of too many import motors with the RWD configuration that would have enough tech support to get them to run. The 3.0L nissan is a nice engine. I don't know the particulars, but you'll have to figure a way around the anti-theft and get the variable cams to work too. I'm not big fan of BMW or Mercedes. Especially trying to get the electronics to work right. The 4.0L in the lincoln LS is a pretty cool little engine. It's just almost a ford. I'm putting a 4.6 DOHC into my mav. You can pull one out of a Mark VIII for less than a grand. I don't know. If you find an engine that you think is really cool, there are ways to get it in there and make it go. We're talking probably $20,000 by the time it's all said and done. Rebuild kits are expensive, parts are expensive, electronics are expensive, getting it tuned is expensive, the HP fuel system is expensive, the custom fab work is expensive.... An AWD conversion with a Subby or Mitsu would be cool. Don't have any idea how much would be involved in that though. Probably lots and lots and lots of everything. Even with me doing most of the work myself, I'm looking at almost $2,000 in cams, $3000 in aftermarket EFI, $5,000 in the rotating assembly, another $2500 or so for an intake manifold, etc etc... Not to mention the tranny, DS, rear suspension, Mustang II front end and all the blah blah blah that goes with it like fuel and brake lines, clutch parts, wires.

I have a buddy that own's a import shop. I'm the only one with a American V8 car in a group of about 25. He says that the one thing importers worry about is, the day a company start makeing turbos for American V8's for a small price, Lights out for imports. We already have drag cars with small blocks & twin turbos that produce 1200+ HP. Turbos are the reason imports became muscle cars. All & all stay with the V8. If you want power than build the V8 for that purpose & a power adder on it.
