semi-open minded(were talking car stuff right?) still prefer to keep ford in a ford and ect.
dont like seeing Ford street rods with small block chevys, that sort of thing.

    did I miss anything?

The third generation GM F-bodies with their V-8s were (and maybe still are, not sure) some of the best handling production cars in the world, and are even better when modified, so I don't buy the argument that 4 & 6 cylinder cars handle better than V-8 equipped cars. Some do, and some don't. It's all in the balance, and suspension tuning. Look at C4, C5, and C6 Corvettes. All have V-8 power and you won't find many 4-cylinder imports that will out-corner them or beat them in a straight line. Sure, they're expensive (C5s & C6s), but I'd take one any day over putting 20 to 50 thousand dollars into a 4-cylinder rice-rocket.

With that said, I think a high-tech V-6 would be cool in a Maverick/Comet, but I see no reason to use a Nissan or Toyota or Honda motor. A Tarus SHO motor would make a great candidate, or even one of the current Ford V-6s. The only use I have for any 4-cylinder is getting me back & forth to work in my '94 Escort. 29mpg in the city and more than that on the highway.

    37 and probably considered "closed-minded"...

Boy this has been fun.....I guess I will jump to the other side now :D

SHO v6 is the dumbest idea ever!!

I looked at doing that engine and found out it weighs more than the 302 it would be a cool motor but for me it doesn't have any advantage. I need something tangable :)

dang! that means that #3 is gonna be my worst mav ever:cry:
guess I shouldnt have bought that engine a while back:hmmm:
oh well.... tough nuggies:D my cars, my ideas, my money to blow. if no one likes them,...all the better, wont have to worry about thieves :bananaman

the SHO has a few things going for it(in my worthless opinion)
its high revving , makes as much power stock as a 5.0 stock,it may weight about the same(so what) ....and then there is the cool factor(y)
    twin turbos on a sho with a 5spd, purpose built revamped suspension,custom body work(thats a given)...yeee haa:evilsmile

:D put the same money in a 302 and it will make twice as much power plus it will be faster in the 1/4  and if I tune it right it could get 10 times better milage than a POS v6 :yup:

Again, I couldn't care less about the weight. A high-tech fuel-injected V-6 would get 30mpg and still be dang quick in a straight line, not to mention "something different".

And you of all people know how to build a car that handles, so that shouldn't really be a concern.

    Keep your FoMoCo all FoMoCo...

Getting back to the original post. My experience on this board is when someone creates a post like this is, they are just looking to get some good talk going. Most posts like this never materialize into anything but bench racing of sorts, not all bad. The creator of the post usually never hangs around long enough to see the fruition of his thoughts. Me? I could care less what you want to do with your car, Heck, I dont care what you think of my car. Nothing personal,, just me. More power to ya. But bet you a 6 pack you never do anything other than a Ford product as far as a power train in your car. Not trying to encourage you or discourage you. Just stating that smack is smack.
    Dan
    oh yeah,, happy new year
