for what it is worth ( about 2 cents) if a guy posts about his daughter going to the prom, he thinks it is important. and it is to him. i think he is posting about it here because he generally feels comfortable with the gang here. wants to share a part of his life and what is important to him. if he wants to post a pic from the prom, why not? ditto for his cars the way i see it. i would hate to think somebody here shouldn't share what makes him/her happy just because it is a ford maverick/ mercury comet site. fact of the matter is, my (as many of you know) number one favorite car is my 71 veedub karmann ghia. our mavericks are important to me because it is something todd and i can do together. and lookit what kinda of new buddies we have! seeyuz at carlisle i hope!!!!!!!!!
(the ghia stay at home for this one)

OK, first of all, sorry if I came off a bit harsh......I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!! I have no problems with elliot or his cars but I just got a little upset when I saw his "other" cars posted in his siganature! I'm not king around here and I didn't mean to come off as so, I just got a little discouraged and probably didn't approach it in the best way. I still think that other makes of cars should probably be discussed in the Off Topic forum.

Like I said before, I wouldn't go on a Corvette website and post pictures of the Comet all over the place. But, to each his own I guess.......

I don't care for them in the signature either...but otherwise is O.K.

I agree, the signature is not the place for off-topic pics to be since it is there every single time you make a post. People just get tired of seeing the same ole pics time after time. I don't mind seeing off-topic pics in any of the forums occasionally but I wouldn't want to see the same ones every time I read any of the MavCom forums. I say post anything of interest because we may just find it interesting too but once or twice is enough. I think most everyone would agree that signatures need to be clean, short, and sweet. One nice pic with a girl in a bikini beside the car would be my preference. :D

Most importantly, this is an awesome board with some great people on it and we need to try very hard to keep it that way so please be careful when you chose your words. It's very easy to say something you regret later. :)

I think the car pics should be the avatar and not on the sig, as those with dial up have to suffer through the download on every one of your posts. That's not very considerate.

Other than that, post whatever car you are proud of. I use my Mav pic on Stangnet!

max power when I was on dial up with a 56k , I think it was 127 mb of ram and a pentium 2 it didn`t have a hard time at all loading pics that size I thought I was being very considerate , if you want to talk about not being considerate how about a bunch of people gettin on ya all at once about two dang pics ;) some one could have gave me a pm asking me to take them off and I would have done it no one needed to drag me out in the open ya know .

cometgt1974 FYI thats not my dads old jeep or my uncles chevy my dad never had a jeep and I`m only keeping the chevy at my uncles house ;)

Personally I don't think that the attack on the "other" brand was called for. I don't look at most signatures anyway. If I put countless hours of work into something that I was proud to own, whether it be a '63 split window vette or a '74 Maverick, I would consider that an insult, even an attack. You have to ask yourself, are you a Maverick/Comet enthusiast, or are you an automotive enthusiast? I love other brands as well, and I DO mix & match things from other vehicles into all of mine. That's what hotrodding is all about. I ignored this post for a while, but the more I read into it, the more it got to me. I do agree that this is a Maverick & Comet website....but if you don't like the sigs, you can turn them off easily. And, if you don't like other people's "off-brands" than you don't have to aknowledge their hard work & dedication. My rant is done.

But then again, I don't own the board. If Stefan wants something done, he'll let us know.

On a lighter note, a big thanks to Stefan for keeping the board going. There is a ton of knowledge and experience here that is shared. Those experiences are what inspire many of us.

I've got a couple things to add:

    1. I was never "mad" about anything, more annoyed then anything.

    2. I approached the whole thing wrong and probably should have just PM'd elliot and told him that is was probably not a good idea to be "displaying" your other brands/choice of vehicle on a brand biased board.

    3. The "piece of sh*t cheby" comment was not directed at you elliot, i'm sorry you took it that way. I don't think your cheby, in particular, is a piec of sh*t but I call ALL cheby's that. :D

    4. This is not a discussion on whether you should be able to post pictures of other cars/things on this site.....it's a discussion of whether it's a good idea to post pictures of your favorite cheby in your signature on a Ford website. I personally don't think it's a good idea!! Some agree, some disagree but I still don't think that's a good idea!

    5. I have parts on my car from all over and back when it was a daily driver I used some electric fans off of a Saab, thermostat switch off of a VW, valve cover breathers off of a cheby......ALL THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT I WOULD NOT GO ON A CHEVY WEBSITE AND POST PICTURES OF THE COMET IN MY SIGNATURE SO ALL THE CHEVY LOVERS COULD CHECK IT OUT. SO I WOULD NATURALLY EXPECT THE SAME RESPECT IN RETURN. Talk about beating a dead horse....

    6. Believe it or not I have a Honda that I have started to Hot Rod a bit and guess what, I don't go on the Honda website and post a bunch of pictures of the Comet. Why you ask, BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT IT AND THEY DON'T WANT TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!
