A story in kind - some years back (in the 80's) when I was living in Dunbar, West Virginia (suburb of Charleston), there was a back road out of my apartment complex which went to a town called Cross Lanes. On one particular day traveling this road, I spotted what appeared to be a 1959 Corvette sitting in the weeds. After a few more visits, I finally "visited" the car, which was on a property with a small, modest home. The car was "complete", though the body was badly faded (red), the gas door was rusty, and the hood was missing - with a tree growing up through the engine compartment. My visit was short as I was uncomfortable with "trespassing" as it were, so I high-tailed it out of there. On a more adventurous afternoon, I returned to finally muster up the courage to visit the home. I pulled in the driveway, walked to the back door, and knocked. I could see that someone was moving around inside, but they would not answer. I left some personal information, but heard nothing. Some time later, in conversation with the local circles of car enthusiasts, I learned the rest of the story. Seems that the woman who lived in the home had a son who went to fight in Vietnam, and never returned. I respectfully understand her motivation, but it was still a shame to see a classic deteriorate in plain sight. I imagine this car is long gone (that was 20+ years ago). Chris
