I love Mavericks, but they're not better than Mustangs. Of course Mustangs aren't better than Mavericks either, other than the fact that they were available with performance options from the factory that were never offered on the Maverick. The Mustang engine compartment could accept larger V-8s without modifications. The Mustang was a little more luxurious and there weren't any stupid 4-doors. Both cars are essentially manufactured the same way. Same uni-body construction. Same suspension design. Both are prone to rust. The whole debate seems silly to me, but I'll still vote for the Maverick because....well....it's the "maverick" thing to do.

I'd like to add that I think it's only right to compare "apples to apples".

In stock form, Mavericks are pretty boring cars. Are we really gonna compare a stock Mustang GT with a stock Maverick?? Aside from an attractive body shape, there's nothing to get excited about. Now when they are modified & customized, they are awesome little classic cars.

Additionally, the Maverick came out in 1970, and by that time, the Mustang was a bigger, heavier car.

I like the '65-'69 Mustangs, but there was no such thing as a Maverick when those came out, so it's not really a fair comparison in that respect.
