    I like the design, but an inch lower would be more proportionate IMO.
    If you build more they will sell like hot cakes!

    lol, I was trying to see if FORD would look good right there, and maverick on the right corner :p.

    I agree, it is a bit tall :p thats why I did tape before I waste metal and time.
    Right now from the bottom of the trunk lid lip, its 7 1/2" high. Center is 6".

    I will more than likely go 6 on the ends, and 5" in the center from the bottom of the lip. I think that'll look a little better. I will get some round stock and bend it. I just did that quick and half assed knowing that I will need to do it again for tweaks. I also tacked it on without gas, so its really porosity.

    Im sure I could figure out how to get it so that you can bolt it on, but for my application I will be welding it onto the lid.

    I think any taller than the original '67-'68 Shelby Mustang spoiler would be too tall.

    Your progress is coming right along! I like your enthusiasm and your drive to get things done. Personally, I don't think the overall height of the spoiler is a problem, but the angle of the back of it is, IMHO, too low. Your spoiler is going to be sticking out way past your bumper, and that may not look right. If it were me (which it isn't) I would straighten up the spoiler and trim it so that the final height is close to the final height you have now.

    The "F-O-R-D" would look cool in the "Shelby" lettering, if one could find some...

    The plan is to have the spoiler, and the bumper same distance out.

    Similar to this mustang rear... I am more than likely not going to go with a stock bumper, but remake the bumper and blend everything together as if it looked "one piece".

    Still decieding and trying to think of a way to make it happen.

    I appreciate it, I am highly motivated with this project. I eat **** sleep dream this car :)






    I also ordered a few more smaller pieces I needed for the doors. Figured I would complete the doors and mock everything up and let it sit in primer. I will mock up the entire car, then tear down powder coat remaining parts, and paint the car in a year or so.

    Got the chassis from Chris Alston Chassis Works! The guys over there even sent me additional tubing to attach the front frame rails to at no additional cost. The guys over there where great to work with, fast shipping, and answered all of my questions. I strongly recommend speaking with them about any of your build(s)! Thanks CA Chassisworks!!!

    Went and grabbed a bottle, got that hooked up and played around with it! Man I love Gas MIG compared to flux! I GAVE that welder away to my cousin hah -- Although after that I kicked myself and should have given it to Mavrocket (bob). If he needs anything welded he can barrow mine, or I can weld it up for him!

    Stoked to start working on this! I need to have some gussets cut out, so I can plug weld them onto the chassis. Going to make this one soild piece. The front frame rails should also be here within the next few days.

    You know where I live, come on by and bring your work clothes. Haha need to get the car in primer. Picking up. Fenders, and Cowl Friday and need to get them on the car.

    Before tackling the rear clip, I would suggest deciding on your front suspension setup and decide if you are doing "Pro Street" (looks like a pro stock drag car) or "Pro Touring" (looks like a road race car).

    The reason I say that is a pro street car does not do well on curves, corners, dips and bumps where a pro touring car is made for it. The pro street will have skinny front tires and the pro touring will have wide front tires.

    What makes this a really big deal is if you try to cross the two, you will not be at all happy with the results.

    The pro street style usually has a very narrow spring base (springs close together left to right) and very wide rear tires that do not offer a great deal of stability when cornering. A drag style car wants the tires close together to keep the car running in a straight line. Think 33" tall rear tires on a 15" wide rim and 26" tall front tires on a 3.5" rim.

    The pro touring style car uses a wider spring base and narrower tire. Yes, they are still wider than a normal tire but not usually as wide as a pro street tire. They simple y have a wider footprint. That is carried to the front with wide tires there. More of a 18" rim that's 11" wide on back and 17" rim that's 9" wide on front with tires that may be very similar in diameter.

    You need your tires and wheels, a comprehensive plan on what you are building and keep the "theme" going throughout the build. The chassis should carry the same theme as the tires, wheels, body mods, interior, etc. or you are going to have a car that "fits" nowhere.

    You are asking a lot of valid questions, and buying some nice parts but when I read back thru your build, it lacks a certain direction. The lack of direction could possibly derail an otherwise nice build if you are not careful.

    The beginning of the thread was almost 2-3 years ago from when I originally started the build. Intially, I was only going to paint, then it just went more and more form there.

    I have a plan of going Pro-Touring

    Front suspension will be R&C Mustang II coil over kit
    Rear suspension will be a 4 link coil over setup.
    Motor and trans will be a 306 w/ C4
    Wheels and tires, 15x16.5" in rear, and 16x9/10's in the front
    Wilwood brakes all the way around

    The car will be a weekend driver maybe 10-15 times a year, and taken to shows. Maybe the drags every full moon or so.

    My guess is with that wide of a tire under a narrow Maverick, the car will be "twitchy". Keep your spring base as wide as possible or the rear of the car will feel like it wants to roll over too much.
