Losing head gastkets Why??????

    My late father-in-law told me that is sometimes a good idea to put a thin coating of greese on the head gasket when replacing it.

    :2cents: never heard the grease thing, always just "cleaner is better". i've heard of oil/grease on threads though. i recommend ARP bolts, they also came with a nice tube of "special" moly lube to coat the threads, "to give more acurate torq"??????????
    eitherway they were a dream.

    the only thing I'd use generic bolts on would be a lawnmower engine or such app. (which i've had good luck with as a small child)

    I agree, kinda odd to grease a gasket... if you've ever put a gasket on a perfectly clean surface and then had to remove it a year or two later, you know when you got it right because it is a royal pain in the @#$#@$!#$@! to get it off.
