:D Maybe he "only' wants 350-400 hp, not 600. He said a regular use street car, which yours isn't. Cheap can do 350-400 hp easily.

650hp sounds like alot to me for a 331 ci but I don't know alot about engines. I have a 306 with iron GT40 heads & I was told that i'm around th 300hp to 325hp area. The bad thing is now I want more. I was thinking about the 331 & Trickflow heads or having PowerHeads cnc port my GT40 with 1.90 & 1.60 valves.

I've built four of them with those kits from ProPower. Great stuff, easy to balance, assembles with no problems. We've put down over 575 hp with two of them and right at 500 with the other two. Even if you just want an easy 400 hp they're great kits. I don't recommend them IF you plan on revving the engine over 7500 rpm or IF you plan on spraying the crap out of it.

My nephew has one of them in his street/strip (bracket race) '67 Mustang with a C4 and a 125 hp nitrous kit. Been in there for four years of teenager driving and over 300 drag strip passes. I had one in a '78 Fairmont Futura for street/strip duty hooked to a Jerico four speed. Had over 500 runs on it when I sold the car.

The kits are good. As with anything, you simply have to know their limitations. People who gripe about "cheap" kits are usually the ones who either like the security of forged everything (and they plan on beating the hell out of it) or the ones who've pushed components beyond their design parameters and had to buy heavier duty components.

Same here Shadow Master, but hey the Maverick has stood beside me without one gripe :drink:
But on the topic of cheap parts I like good stuff and Im willing to wait till I can afford it, yeah I like to beat on my stuff so I need it. We have put 351's together with cheap parts and made 400hp+ and good parts have made 800+ the difference is power, and in the wrong hands longevity. We all know that soon enough the power we have is not going to be enough so I do it right the first time and not set myself up for disappointment. But thats me, to each his own.:2cents:

Well I have alot to learn. This is my 1st V8. This is also the only V8 I have ever put together for fun. Matter of fact, this is my 1st project ever. I hadn't start on the other car that has a V8 in it. I didn't know what I might had came up with for power. My other cars & trucks have 4's & 6's in them. They just have bolt on stuff. But from this forum, I am learning lots & lots. Thanks members.
