I thought about taking it across the Barrett & Jackson stage but it would gouge up the floor pretty good dragging it with the chain
Found some early photos Searching through an old box of photos tonight, I found some very early photos from the first days of my Maverick. The stock original photos, showing the interior and trunk came from late 1989. The tear down in the driveway photos had to be from 1990 or so. The car has changed a little since then
Last 3 photos are from around 1992-93 show the perfect black dash pad I got for 15 bucks at a junk yard, new Grant steering wheel, clutch pedal now in car, extra gauges and tach, Grabber hood and some new fenders from a 4 door donor - the 9 inch Versailles rear is in the car now along with the 5 lug Granada spindles and disc brakes all around - the Cleveland was freshened up by now with standard bore and is in the car using Tubular Automotive headers - the Magnum500 wheels were from my Grand Torino Didn't get a real lot of quality work done in a gravel driveway back in those days and no garage
Rough cut oak blocks You are looking at the reason I had torque box and rocker issues with rust with those blocks being there for so long soaking up all of the rain water
Gave a bumper to bumper tour of the Maverick project to "Tody" from Cologne Germany on Wednesday - a very nice 2 hour visit from across the big pond
Finally back to work on the Maqverick The temperature topped out at 54 degrees today in Pennsylvania so I flung open both garage doors and got back to work. My Mustang II suspension, that I purchased from Full Tilt Street Rods in Colorado, was originally ordered for the large stock type Mustang II coil springs. I changed direction after I bought my Heidt coil overs for the rear and decided I wanted to go that route all the way around. So I needed to convert my front suspension over to work with the coil overs. Lucky for me Full Tilt makes their bottom A-Frames all the same for stock coils, coil overs and air bags - the difference is what mounting fixture they add to the A-Frame when you order them. I cut the bottom big spring perches off and now the coil overs simply mounted where the shock would mount. On the top "hats", I had to remove the area that accepts the top of the stock big coil and then clearance between the top A-Frame slots for the coil over to be able to tilt inward some. I'm running the top tubular A-Frames that are 5/8 of an inch shorter and the coil overs fit right up through them with no problems. I still have to make top mounting brackets to the roll cage down tubes and get some adapter spacers that will fit in the 5/8" mounting holes in the shocks and drop down to 1/2" which is what all the mounting bolts are. Once I get my car on the ground with tires. I can adjust the ride height and then I need to lower the re-vamped top hats since these are way too tall. Keeps the top A-Frames level instead of having an inboard angle built into them for quicker camber gains - the same reason for doing the Shelby drop on the stock Maverick suspension. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer, with an extra hour of daylight, so I should be able to get more done .
